Job Description

The CU Operations: Summer Facilities Worker position provides 12 weeks of educational facilities support during Campbellsville University's summer camp schedule. This position will maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment throughout the campus. This position will ensure campers, staff, and visitors have a positive and hygienic experience during the university's summer camp schedule. This role will keep designated areas clean, safe, and debris-free. This position requires attention to detail, working both independently and in groups while upholding high standards of cleanliness and maintenance. The summer facilities worker will report directly to a designated student manager in charge of facilitating. They will support the director of custodial services and operations team.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate positive behavior, attitudes, and values consistent with the camp's mission and philosophy, serving as a role model for campers and peers.

  • Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces in camp buildings, cabins, restrooms, dining halls, and other common areas.

  • Clean and disinfect restroom facilities, including toilets, sinks, showers, and fixtures, to maintain hygiene and prevent the spread of germs.

  • Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste in designated areas.

  • Assist with outdoor maintenance tasks such as litter picking, leaf raking, and sidewalk sweeping to keep the campus clean and presentable.

  • Remove debris and litter from entrances, porches, floors, sidewalks, signs, and other surfaces.

  • Work collaboratively with fellow custodial staff members, camp administrators, and other camp personnel to coordinate cleaning schedules, prioritize tasks, and address specific cleaning needs.

  • Assist with setting up and breaking down equipment and furniture for events or projects.

  • Follow safety protocols and shoe and clothing requirements and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling cleaning chemicals or operating machinery.

  • Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or cleaning supply shortages to the supervisor.

  • Collaborate with team members to complete tasks efficiently and meet cleaning deadlines.

  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor while interacting with other students and summer camp attendees.

  • Communicate effectively with camp leadership, staff, and volunteers, executing cleaning and maintenance activities efficiently and effectively.

Requirements

  • Must be a current student at Campbellsville University.

  • Must be vetted by a designated managing staff and approved by the Director of Custodial Services.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.

  • Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor tasks.

  • Must be willing to work indoors & outdoors in inclement weather.

  • Must report on time Monday through Friday, 8 am - 4 pm.
