QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification
Required:
Bachelor's degree
Preferred:
Master's degree in education, certified school counselor
Valid Texas Vocational Teaching Certification
Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of career and technical education curriculum and instruction
Ability to evaluate career and technical education programs and practices
Ability to manage budget
Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data
Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Ability to research and analyze trends and changes in CTE and provide guidance
Ability to convey information and/or instruction to internal/external customers through spoken expression
Knowledge of PEIMS, LPAC and ARD procedures
Prefer experience working with special populations
Experience:
Two years work experience related to CTE OR
Two years as a CTE teacher in any CTE program OR
Two years of work experience as a school counselor
Prefer experience in a leadership role as a team leader, department chairperson, etc.

FUNCTION:
Ensure that individuals who are members of special populations are receiving adequate services and occupational skill training
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS:
Coordination of CTE representation for Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings
Gather information and appropriate documents from CTE teachers to ensure quality placement information is presented during ARD meetings
Monitor the CTE component of the ARD meetings, for students that are currently enrolled or plan to enroll in a CTE courses, to ensure CTE representation
Ensure implementation of accommodations in CTE courses
Participate in LEA committees designed to plan for various aspects of the total Career and Technical Education program as needed
Recommend and implement state-approved Programs of Study, such as course sequences, early postsecondary opportunities, industry-recognized credentials and work based learning
Data Implementation and Analysis
Gather, review and report CTE and Comprehensive Local Needs Assessments (CLNA) to the TEA Accountably system
Gather, review and report on CTE data as it relates to career clusters, district enrollment, campus enrollment, special populations and labor market needs of the local area, state, and/or region, now and in the future
Monitor LEA, School, and Course demographic and attainment data to assist in determining maintenance and improvement of access, progress, and success of students within special populations in CTE programs Professional Development
Provide training to CTE teachers working with special populations and
Make curriculum suggestions for accommodations and students of special populations Promotions, Recruitment and Retention
Develop promotional materials designed to recruit and retain CTE students
Work with GTE staff to ensure recognition in all areas of media, district publications and web sites
Ensure promotional materials provide access to all students regardless of race, color, national origin, sex or handicapping condition
