Career Development Coordinator
Reports to: The Lead CTE CDC and the Executive Director of Technology and CTE Services
Purpose: Career Development Coordinators (CDC) support Career and Technical Education (CTE) and coordinate career development services for students participating in CTE. The CDC works collaboratively with administrators, student services personnel, and teachers to ensure the delivery of career development services. CDCs facilitate linkages with parents, business/industry, postsecondary institutions, and community organizations to support students' transition to postsecondary education and employment.
Qualifications:
One of the following:
A minimum of one year related work experience to business, industry, or labor
One year as a coordinator of work-based learning in Career Technical Education or School Counseling
A current license in one of the following:
School Counseling and/or a current license in a Career and Technical Education Program area
A current license in an Exceptional Children's Education Program Master's degree and current license in any Career and Technical Education program area.
Have or be willing to work towards the 770 licensure in Special Populations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of current literature, trends, and developments in the field of career and Technical Education.
Ability to maintain complete and accurate records and statistics.
Strong technology skills in word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual and audio presentations, and telecommunications.
Ability to make oral presentations before large groups of people.
Exhibit a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and the interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community.
Considerable knowledge of school policies, procedures, and daily workings.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Point of contact for CTE updates relating to curriculum, earning of credentials, maintaining of facilities/safety, and testing that come from DPI.
Point of contact for two key programs areas that RSS serves.
Web Presence:
Maintain a district-wide Career Development website, so each CDC does not have to keep one current at their school site.
Special Populations
Identification of Special Populations students and maintenance/updating of CDP+ for all high schools.
CTE Assessments and Work Keys
Elements Training for all CTE teachers
Serve as the contact person for testing item bank password resets, scheduling and training.
Sharing modifications and accommodations with CTE teachers for Special Populations students in CTE classes.
Set-up timeline for administration (schedule dates in lab) of Learning styles/Career Assessments for school year
Collect articulated credit information for all CTE teachers and courses.
Identify CTE concentrators for WorkKeys testing
Partnering with Guidance Counselors
Assist counselors with CTE course selection and clusters during school-wide registration and when new students register.
Coordinate and maintain updated career pathways information for student registration
Coordinate with counselors to identify career interests and assist with learning styles inventories of Special Populations students.
Assist with schedule changes and serve as a resource for CTE questions
Establish business partnerships for student internship and job shadowing experiences
Coordinate the placement of student internships
Serve as a liaison with the business, industry, education and military community.
Plan and promote the Career and Job Fairs
Be a resource for middle schools planning Career Fairs by sharing community contacts/partnerships when needed.
Serve as contact for school's CTE teachers:
Purchase requests
Open purchase orders
Receipt of items and inventory updates
CTE teacher discard needs
Work with school & facilities to set up discards of antiquated/damaged equipment and removal from inventory.
Field Trips
Point of contact for CTE field trips and CTSO events and coordination of collection of required documents and field trip approvals.
Attend CTE field trips, CTSO events and competitions as a chaperone as needed.
Collect industry recognized credential information for all CTE teachers and courses.
Coordinate activities for CTE month (Feb)
Attend CDC Regional meetings
Term of Employment: 10.5 Months
