Brighton High School, a 27J School in Brighton, CO, is seeking a Career and Technical Education Agriculture/Welding Instructor to further the implementation of 27J Schools Career and Technical Education programs at the school site.
The primary responsibility of the Career and Technical Education Agriculture/Welding Instructor will be to further the implementation of 27J Schools Career and Technical Education programs at the high school level. The instructor will provide instruction in Agriculture (Intro to Ag, Vet Science, Power Systems) and Welding.
Career and Technical Education, also referred to as STEM/CTE in 27J Schools, is a sequence of courses that integrates core academic knowledge with technical and occupational experience to provide students with a pathway to postsecondary education and careers. STEM/CTE programs deliver an enriched educational experience that promotes student interest and academic success while developing technical and career readiness skills necessary for the workplace of the future. Graduates of today's rigorous and relevant STEM/CTE programs are better prepared for high-wage, high-skill and high demand careers.
All students who participate in this program are expected to complete one or more of the certifications from the iCEV Elanco Fundamentals of Animal Science or American Welding Society D 1.1. Achieving certification demonstrates a proven level of knowledge and shows educators and employers that a student is serious about their career.
EXPERIENCE AND ACADEMIC PREPARATION:
A CTE Authorization (License) in Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources is required from the Colorado Department of Education.
Preference given for experience in the agricultural or welding industries.
Bilingual literacy in Spanish is preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare and teach assigned courses in accordance with course curriculum frames.
Maintain accurate registration, attendance, and records for each course taught.
Prepare, review, and update lesson plans and course curriculum frames on a regular basis.
Leadership Training/CTSO - Fulfill leadership training opportunities requirements as required by the CTE State Board. All CTE teachers shall serve as the sponsor of an approved Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) according to the program of work components.
Postsecondary And Industry Certificate
Fulfill program Technical Advisory Committee meeting requirements. Annually turn in agendas and notes from no less than 2 meetings.
Create an effective learning environment and use teaching methods designed for a variety of learning styles.
Maintain student, instructor, and staff confidentiality. Consistently monitor work areas to ensure instructor and student data is being protected according to Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations.
Adapt and respond to changing work situations and environments in a positive manner.
Participate in professional development activities designed to enhance job skills and knowledge, as agreed upon by the employee and supervisor.
Interact with students, the public, the community, and co-workers in a cooperative, courteous and professional manner.
Perform related duties and responsibilities, as assigned by the supervisor.
OTHER INFORMATION:
CTE Stipend
CTE Teachers must ensure that their programs meet and are operated in accordance with State Board-approved standards for quality Career And Technical Education as determined in the program approval process. CTE teachers will provide information necessary to complete and maintain an approved program.
This includes:
Obtaining and updating an appropriate CTE Teaching License.
Annually conducting two Technical Advisory Committee meetings.
Sponsoring a Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO).
Submitting an annual CTE Program Quality Action Plan, and follow up student surveys.
Participating in recruitment and student enrollment activities.
Supporting work based learning, student completion of industry certificate and seamless transition to post secondary education.
CTE Program Lead Teachers are eligible to receive a CTE stipend for the fulfillment of the above work. CTE Program Lead Teachers may receive up to $5,000 annually for establishing and maintaining their CTE program.
