About the Job

Under the supervision of the Team Leader and/or Assistant Team Leader performs a variety of diagnostic computerized tomographic scanner radiographs (CT) scan procedures including ER and inpatient and outpatient populations, utilizing ionizing radiation. The technologist is responsible for monitoring and maintaining essential patient care and safety including practicing ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable). Flexibility to work overtime/cover at other sites as needed, on-call and holiday rotation mandatory.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

  1. Obtains and documents necessary patient information/history in order to perform appropriate exam.
  2. Documents all pertinent information involving the use of IV/oral contrast in medical record, and obtain accurate allergy information.
  3. Performs all CT exams with 100% accuracy.
  4. Begins and completes exams utilizing the RIS with 100% accuracy, 98-100%of the time.
  5. Uses CT work list with 100% accuracy i.e. correct patient demographics, accession number.
  6. Properly QCs exams using PACS system.
  7. Properly evaluates images for Diagnostic purposes/recognizing anatomy and pathology for need of additional scan.
  8. Practices ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable).
  9. Accurately follows department clinical protocols and standards, including but not limited to Post-processing.
  10. Readily and willingly contributes to team approach to provide optimal quality care for patients, on-call and holiday rotation.
  11. Maintains a clean and safe environment for patients and colleagues. Incorporates Lahey Clinic Guiding Principles and Mission Statement into daily activities.
  12. Demonstrates an understanding of job description, performance expectations, and competency assessment.
  13. Demonstrates a commitment toward meeting and exceeding the needs of our customers and consistently adheres to our customer service standards.
  14. Participates in departmental and/or interdepartmental quality improvement activities.
  15. Participates in and successfully completes mandatory education.

Other Duties & Responsibilities:

3.Helping in training of students.
4.Helping receptionists with heavy telephone traffic as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Two year AMA accredited School of Radiologic Technology

Licensure, Certification, Registration: Registered by the ARRT or registry eligible. Licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts' Department of Public Health: Radiation Control Program in the specialties in which the technologist practices. Maintains licensure on an annual basis. If currently trained in CT, must obtain CT certification within 12 months of employment. Requires Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification with American Heart Association

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Candidate must be proficient in cross sectional anatomy. Candidate must be proficient in the use CT Scanners, Power injector, Venipuncture and mobile scanner or in the absence of this skill the ability to be trained to a level of competency and obtain certification within 18 months of completing training.

Experience: One year in a trauma setting. Previous experience in a trauma center/ Prior experience with RIS/PACS preferred.

VIEW JOBS 11/17/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-02-15T00:00 GENERAL SUMMARY: The Radiology Technologist works to provide expedited care for patients by performing X-ray exams as ordered by Partners Urgent Care providers and by assisting with front office activities as well as back office clinical activities. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Front Office: * Performs all of the assigned duties of the front office, applying daily check lists for opening and closing of center. * Greets and assists patients and other guests in a professional, friendly, hospitable manner. * Registers arriving patients in the electronic medical record (EMR) following existing protocols. * Processes payments for services. Back Office clinical duties: * Rooms and triages patients. * Documents review of symptoms, patient history, chief complaint, vital signs and any other necessary clinical documentation in the EMR. * Obtains and processes patient specimens, according to protocol, for point of care tests (examples: rapid strep, flu, mono, pregnancy, urinalysis, glucose), sends out labs (examples: urine culture, strep culture), and other tests required for employee health visits such as breath alcohol test, urine drug screening. Collection of specimens is typically by urine sample or finger stick blood sample. * Assists with minor surgical procedures under the direction of licensed provider. Radiologic Technologist duties: * Prepares the radiology suite, equipment, and materials as necessary. * Follows standard protocols for preparing adult and pediatric patients for x-ray studies, capturing images and documenting appropriately in the EMR. * Cleans and stages exam and procedure suites in between patient occupancy. * Monitors receipt of x-ray images by receiving Radiology department and monitors availability of results. * Re-stocks shelves and suites when supply orders are received. * Assists with training activities for new employees. * Performs other duties as assigned. * Associate's degree from an accredited college required * Current state licensure as a radiologic technologist required * CPR/BLS certification required * ARRT license required * Minimum of 2 years of experience in a high-volume urgent care center or emergency room preferred SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES: * Must have outstanding bedside manner with both pediatric and adult patients. * Demonstrated ability and strong commitment to exceptional patient care and customer service principles. * Must have positive and energetic attitude which inspires other team members. * Possess excellent organizational and record keeping skills. * Ability to communicate effectively, balance multiple tasks, set priorities, and solve problems independently. * Must be able to speak and write English fluently. * Technology proficiency is critical, including previous EMR experience and knowledge of Microsoft software products such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Prior experience with EPIC preferred. * Must be able to work well in a team environment. WORKING CONDITIONS: * Reliable, independent transportation is required for travel to various PUC locations. * While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear. Requires sitting and standing associated with normal office environment. Manual dexterity for using a computer keyboard and calculator. * Work is performed in a fast-paced office environment. There is constant contact with the public, clinic and office support staff.
