Job Description:

The CT Tech performs a variety of CT procedures using ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. This position uses ingenuity, iniative, and independent judgement to perform high quality scans.

Intermountain Health is hiring CT Techs or Students currently enrolled in a CT program, to join our team at Intermountain Medical Center located in Murray, Utah. We are hiring for full-time, part-time, PRN, and graveyard shifts. We are offering up to $7500 for eligible shifts and relocation incentives.

For a Specialty Technologist in Training:

Job Details

  • Sign-on Bonus: up to $2500.00 for eligible applicants

  • Shift: Full-time, 40 hrs/wk.

Scope

Works at least 80% of the time training in the respective specialty area. Must obtain registration within 1 year of moving into this job, if specialty area requires a registry.

Job Essentials

  • Ensures proper patient identification, and order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam. Assists in proper contrast administration.

  • Positions patients effectively for scans, using sound knowledge of physiology and anatomy.

  • Performs exams using consistent department protocols and transmits all pertinent data through appropriate systems for radiologist review.

  • Proactively assesses images and makes adjustments, as needed, to deliver quality scans for proper patient diagnosis.

  • Performs routine maintenance, cleaning, and calibration of imaging equipment and makes adjustments for patient size, age, and condition. Also recognizes equipment failures and adjusts or reports concerns as needed.

  • Participates in department assignments such as maintaining department stock, quality improvement activities, and cleaning work areas.

  • Demonstrates effective radiation and pathogenetic protection for the patient and self.

  • Follows department protocols for medical necessity, obtaining consent for invasive procedures, coding and charging, and documenting any events that may occur.

  • Actively pursue learning new procedures or advancements in specialty areas.

  • Thoroughly and accurately completes all required documentation, including time stamps and image storage.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Successful completion of formal RT training from an ARRT-approved school.

  • BLS Certification for healthcare providers.

  • Current State of Utah License if working in Utah (not required in Idaho).

  • ARRT License and a current State of Utah Radiology Tech License if working in Utah (not required in Idaho).

  • Eligible to take the applicable CT registry.

Preferred Qualifications

Two years experience in diagnostic radiology.

Job Essentials

  • Ensures proper patient identification, and order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam.

  • Performs exams per department protocol.

  • Understands cross-sectional anatomy and demonstrates anatomical positioning competency.

  • Familiar with the ALARA program and follows proper radiation safety protocol.

  • Demonstrates ability to critique own films.

  • Completes studies within acceptable time limitations per department expectations without compromising patient care or the quality of the examination.

  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of protocol relating to contrast administration.

  • As ordered by the physician and under radiologist or physician supervision administers oral barium products or intravenous contrast material to patients.

  • Practices appropriate infection control and sterile techniques.

  • Provides appropriate patient education and ensures patient comfort.

  • Understands and operates CT equipment and related information systems appropriately to ensure that quality images are produced.

  • Exhibits working knowledge of contrast injectors and laser printers.

  • Exhibits understanding and proficiency with electronic imaging. The incumbent will be able to view, transfer and manipulate images.

  • Thoroughly and accurately completes all required documentation, including time stamps and image storage.

  • Follows appropriate protocol for medical necessity, coding, and charging, obtaining consent if necessary, documenting any events that may occur for quality, maintaining a current QC program for ACR, and reporting any equipment failures or problems.

Minimum Qualifications

  • ARRT registered technologist

  • Current Utah State licensure (for positions in Utah).

  • Basic life support (BLS) certified for healthcare providers.

  • One year of experience in CT.

Post-hire expectation: Meets departmental IV certification competency within three months of hire.

Post-hire expectation: (Where applicable) Must complete the controlled substance module within six months of hire.

Post-hire expectation: (Where applicable) Must complete the initial moderate sedation module within six months of hire.

(Where applicable) Must complete the initial moderate sedation module within six months of hire.
