GENERAL SUMMARY: The CT Technologist performs computed tomography (CT) procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician.# Uses CT technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of patient medical problems for patients throughout the age continuum.


PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


1.######## *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values. 2.####### *Performs all types of CT studies to include diagnostic and interventional procedures; practices radiation safety for patients, staff, and self. 3.######## *Uses sterile technique as required. 4.####### *Optimally demonstrates patient anatomy through proper positioning and selection of technical factors. 5.####### *Performs venipuncture. 6.####### *Competently operates all CT equipment and support systems to include HIS, RIS, Scheduling System, PACS, teleradiography, performs and evaluates images for technical quality.# 7.######## *Utilizes department computer systems, PACS, etc., to review patient history and provide accurate documentation of studies. 8.####### *Properly cares for and imaging patients of all ages; maintains patient confidentiality. 9.####### *Coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; communicates with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families, and other hospital staff to assure quality patient care. 10.### *Handles telephone calls for scheduling, coordination, or questions with courtesy and accuracy. 11.#### *Participates in the department#s quality improvement plan as required. 12.### *Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies coordinator of equipment problems and calls appropriate service vendors as needed. 13.#### *Keeps work area properly supplied. 14.### *Accesses and administers drugs and biologicals that are pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with Medical Center procedures.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


Graduate from a school of radiologic technology with current certification or eligibility for certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists required.# Certification in CT required within 24 months of hire.# Valid state medical radiographer license required. # OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS: # Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.
