We are located on the Westside of El Paso, Texas close tothe University of Texas El Paso campus. We provide exceptional patient careservices to the El Paso and Fort Bliss communities, as well as Southern NewMexico and West Texas Regions.
Undergeneral supervision, operates Cat Scan equipment, positions patients to producediagnostic radiographs in a safe manner and performs related duties.
Corecompetencies will be assessed primarily on the following patient population(s)served; imaging with and without contrast of cardio-pulmonary, vascular, neuro,GI, GU, GYN, skeletal/muscular conditions and diseases including but notlimited to: PVD, CVA/TIA, COPD, CHF, HNP, oncology, etc.
OperatesC.T. equipment to make radiographic scans of designated portions of body.Adjusts equipment and patient to correct positions for each examination.Instructs and explains procedures to patients. Selects proper technicalfactors, on an individual patient basis.
Performsreconstruction and special processing of data. Evaluates completedradiographs/scans for positioning, technique and adequacy of examination.
Closelyobserves patients, performs first aid, as necessary, confers with physicianwhen requested exams appear at odds with the patient's condition, andgenerally, maintains an acute awareness of any patient under his/her control.
Performsa variety of clerical tasks to include; pulling jackets, inputting/editingexams, and completion of requisition prior to setting films to be read.
Recordsand maintains data on magnetic disc, tape, PACS, and logs. Responsible forcorrect identification of film, including side and radiological factors.
DemonstratesCustomer Service/Service Plus principles and behaviors appropriately.
Arranges,attaches or adjusts immobilization and supportive devices to obtain preciseposition, prevent motion and aid in patient comfort.
Keepscurrent regarding developments in trends and techniques of diagnostic Cat Scanby reading technical journals, participating in in-service education programs,attending conferences, etc.
Practicessterile techniques and prevents cross contamination. Maintains orderliness andcleanliness, including provision for the contamination free condition of rooms,equipment and personnel.
Adheresto prescribed standards of Radiation Safety; participates in the Quality Improvementand safety programs.
Ensuresappropriate recording of hours worked, adhering to hospital policy.

Current MRT Texas State License
Current CPR certification
High School Graduate or equivalent
Knowledgeof axial anatomy
PREFERRED EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION,EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
3years experience in X-ray/CT
Comprehensive knowledge ofanatomy, positioning, radiographic techniques, and radiation protection conceptsand techniques.
Knowledgeof radiographic physics,
Knowledgeof medical terminology.
Ability to determineexposure factors to achieve optimum radiographic images with a minimum exposureto patients.
Ability toexamine radiographs for the purpose of evaluation techniques, positions, andother related qualities.
Ability to exercisediscretion and good judgment with patients during radiographic procedures.
Ability toposition patient and adjust equipment to produce desired radiographic.
Skill insafe and efficient operation of Cat Scan equipment.
Ability to deviate fromnormal techniques when necessary to develop new and better techniques to keepthe department up to date.
