I. TITLE

School Psychologist

II. PRIMARY FUNCTION

The School Psychologist, a member of the child study team, has responsibilities which include working with the social worker and the learning disabilities teacher consultant in planning strategies and program for referred and/or classified students.

III. REPORTS TO

Assistant Superintendent for Pupil-Special Services

IV. QUALIFICATIONS

• Master's Degree with specialization in Psychology

• Minimum of three (3) years' experience in education psychology and/or clinical psychology

preferred

• Must hold NJ certificate as School Psychologist

• Such other qualifications of academic, professional and personal excellence as the Edison

Township Board of Education may specify

V. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Administers selected tests to referred students, analysis of test results and develops recommendations based upon findings

• Acts as a consultant to administrative and school personnel and students regarding behavior/adjustment problems of students

• Conducts informational and/or counseling sessions with parents and/or students

• Intervenes in crisis situations directly with students and consults with school personnel

• Participates in child study team conferences, i.e., interdisciplinary sharing of data, as well as conferences with parents and school personnel

• Assists in coordinating, developing, monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of Individual Education Plans

• Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent or designee

VI. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

September 1 to June 30 and in accordance with the provisions of the BOE/ETEA contract
