We are looking for a "rising star" who is highly motivated, technically savvy and passionate to join Cisco's Cloud Networking Group (CNG) as our next Consulting Sales Engineer. In this role, your primary responsibility will be to team up with a Product Sales Specialist and perform technical pre-sales activities for new and existing opportunities.

  • You will be based in your home office with frequent travel to regional Cisco offices and customer sites.

  • You will Utilize your in-depth knowledge of CNG's networking solutions and our competitors' offerings, you will clearly demonstrate the advantages to both prospects and partners.

  • We highly use our pre-sales engineers, which means you have the opportunity to make great money while contributing to the success of the entire organization.


  • Act as the technical subject matter authority, thoroughly understanding products, features, functions, and benefits while being able to communicate to all enterprise level customers

  • Understand customer requirements for wireless networks and explain how Cisco Meraki will integrate with current infrastructure, as well as service future needs

  • Build product documentation for customers and perform competitive analysis regarding competing products

  • Perform site surveys and provide onsite deployment assistance on large deployments

  • Provide technical mentorship to channel partners and assist them in effectively selling the Cisco Meraki solution


  • You will have field pre-sales experience; ASE / CSAP grads preferred

  • Experienced knowledge of 802.11a/b/g/n wireless networks, site surveys, requirements gathering, deployment challenges

  • Deep understanding of wired networks, including firewalls, content filters, routing/switching, VLAN's, etc

  • Understand wireless security methodologies, including 802.1x w/ RADIUS integration

  • Consistent track record of 5-10 years in a pre-sales technical role (solutions architect, systems engineer, sales engineer, etc)

  • Knowledge of sales cycle, strong verbal and written communication skills, and validated negotiation techniques

  • Great relationship building skills, tenacity, resilience and presentation skills.

  • CCIE, CWNP, CWDP, CCNA preferred

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and set priorities.

  • Ability to travel 50+%

  • BS or MS degree in computer science, computer engineering or related discipline required

You will manage a team of Consulting Sales Engineers (CSE) who are subject matter experts in a specific domain of IT/DevOps or Security. CSE's work alongside sales engineers to deliver deep domain and technical product expertise to our customers ensuring their success. The CSE team you lead will support a specific geography and multiple account teams. The team will operate with tight alignment between solution sales engineers, field sales, national architects, and other organizations within Splunk. Responsibilities: I want to and can do that! * Lead a team of Consulting Sales Engineers (CSE) helping to ensure sales and customer success; * Engage directly with Pre-Sales and Sales Leadership to strategize on their opportunities and engage on pre-sales activities for Splunk's solutions in Security & IT/DevOps; * Conduct pipeline recruiting efforts to find and hire top field engineering talent within your region. Mentor/coach new hires during on-boarding and subsequent phases to ensure proper ramping of CE skills and capabilities. * Ensure that your team is enabled to support required Splunk products and solutions along with required sales/soft skills; * Work closely with field leadership to jointly develop strategic and technical account plans; * Interact with customers and prospects to understand their business challenges * Develop a close working relationship with Professional Services and Education to ensure alignment between pre and post sales activities; * Support Splunk Professional Services by identifying and scoping new opportunities and following major engagements to ensure customer success; * Provide CSE's with continual development feedback and co-developing development plans for each individual; * Manage performance and key talent closely ensuring that we are taking the necessary actions to retain top talent and manage performance at all levels; * Conduct regular 1:1's with team members to provide constructive feedback and skills development; * Work directly with our Director, Field Technical Interlock and cross functionally with customer success, support, professional services, and other organizations to ensure alignment with the field, provide process and product feedback, and resolve critical customer situations. * Deliver presentations and technical briefings to customers on Splunk premium products and solutions. Assist and manage with critical Splunk evaluations and POC's Requirements: I've already done or have that! * At least 8+ year's experience in technically selling and supporting software products to IT organizations. * At least 2+ year's related SE/SA Management experience is highly preferred. * Excellent communication skills – written and oral.
