THE ROLE

We're in the business of crop marketing to help farmers navigate some of the most complicated and emotional decisions they make throughout the year. Our team works to give farmers unique, personal insights and flexible tools that allow them to make decisions optimized for their business.

As the Strategy & Operations Manager for Crop Marketing & Risk Management, you will lead our growing operations team in developing critical business processes and systems that allow us to serve our farmers efficiently and faithfully. You'll ensure that the business operates effectively day-to-day while also looking toward the future, bringing solutions to the table that outfit the company to sustainably move forward in a high-growth environment. You'll work with leaders of different areas of the organization to ensure that systems and processes serve all stakeholders and bring about the success of the whole team. You will bring an operations perspective to the business strategy and strategically lead the maturing operations organization.

The ideal candidate for this role is a problem solver at heart and loves to equip teammates with the skills to find creative solutions. You know how to balance executing effectively in the present while preparing the company for the future. While you love to discuss and make long-term strategic decisions, you feel just at home on the frontlines digging into the depths of a spreadsheet. When it comes to systems and processes, you have an eye for design, for both the highest and the most granular levels. You relish the challenges of a growing business, and you know how to use your experience, instinct, and education to develop a sound vision and lead your team toward its realization. You understand how to scale up business operations in a high-growth environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead a growing cross-functional Strategy & Operations team in executing processes and projects.

  • Work with leaders and key organizational stakeholders to define short-term and long-term business operational strategy.

  • Develop and execute a strategic roadmap to scale operations for growing business.

  • Continually evaluate and improve operational performance of business.

  • Own key management metric reporting and analytics.

  • Drive increasing maturity of business systems and processes.

  • Support new go-to-market strategies and other growth initiatives.

  • Actively solve business-critical problems to keep various teams operating at full power.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A passion for helping both farmers and team members be successful.

  • 7+ years experience in business operations and/or strategic leadership roles.

  • Experience developing a maturing operations organization within a growing business.

  • Solid analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, agile, accountable environment.

  • Highly independent, goal-oriented, and creative.

  • Bachelors or advanced degree in agriculture, ag business, business, or other related field from a top tier institution.

  • Preferred - Strong Google Suite experience, particularly Google Sheets.

  • Preferred - significant domain knowledge regarding production agriculture, grain trading, or a related field.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Compensation and title for this position will be adjusted to suit your experience and qualifications. We also offer an attractive benefits package that includes health, vision, and dental insurance.

In crop marketing, we help farmers navigate some of the most complicated and emotional decisions they make throughout the year. Our team works to give farmers unique, personal insights and flexible tools that allow them to make decisions about how, when, and where to sell their crops. Product marketing bridges the customer (farmers), the product & operations teams, and sales to profitably deliver products that solve real needs of farmers. As the Product Marketing Manager for Crop Marketing & Risk Management, you will be responsible for helping to define and hit growth, engagement, financial and strategic goals by driving demand. The ideal candidate is: * Passionate about understanding and supporting farmers * Adept at drawing insights from data, and leveraging insights to make strategic decisions * Experienced in messaging development and testing * Skilled at project and stakeholder management * Excited to lead cross-functional partners (subject matter experts, marketing operations, and content teams) to build a content marketing strategy for this knowledge-intensive business Direct Work Streams * Strategic marketing and demand planning/coordination (Generate marketing plans informed by customer insights, sales feedback, and BU strategies. Socialize those plans to relevant functions) * Production and execution of marketing tactics that support business strategies. (Make and/or coordinate production of: content, ads, sales materials, training materials, media purchases) * Measurement, analysis, and insights (Understand the motivations, needs, purchase drivers, and barriers to adoption of our customers. Understand the effectiveness of our marketing and sales initiatives) * Marketing and FBN capability building (Create step-change improvements in marketing and organizational performance through creation and execution of processes, initiatives, and special projects) Common day-to-day activities * Align with BU's on business priorities and financial plans * Create demand generation plans that deliver on BU priorities and financial plans * Assess performance of marketing initiatives and adjust executions as necessary to increase performance * Report out to management, BU's, Sales and other stakeholders on performance * Develop message strategy and work with FBN's content production team to coordinate the production of marketing assets with internal and agency partners. * Conduct direct research and analysis of customer behaviors in data to unlock insights to help grow the business * Socialize and train cross-functional partners on initiatives and win their support * Lead special projects that will unlock the next level of FBN growth QUALIFICATIONS * 7+ years in a product marketing or marketing management role, preferably at a software, agriculture, or food setting * Strong marketing skills with experience managing brands, programs and campaigns * Command of how to develop an end to end marketing plan, including budgeting and resource allocation, oversight, and outcomes measurement * Ability to distill complex business and technology strategies to compelling messaging across various marketing materials across a variety of audiences * Experience creating internal and external marketing assets, including one-pagers, webpage content development, and digital advertisements * Desire to learn from and serve farmers; excitement to make on-farm visits, conduct extensive user research, and understand our customer needs * Experience in a business group, PM, or technical marketing a plus Farmers Business Network Chicago IL
