This position will be located in the Aberdeen, SD area.

Responsibilities

  • Investigates and maintains claims:

  • Reviews and evaluates coverage and / or liability.

  • Secures and analyzes necessary information (i.e., reports, policies, appraisals, releases, statements, records or other documents) in the investigation of claims.

  • Works toward the resolution of claims files, and may attend arbitrations, mediations, dispositions or trials as necessary.

  • May affect settlements / reserves within prescribed limits and submit recommendations to supervisor on cases exceeding personal authority.

  • Conveys simple to moderately complex information (coverage, decision, outcomes, etc.) to all appropriate parties, maintaining a professional demeanor in all situations.

  • Ensures that claims payments are issued in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Ensures that claims handling is conducted in compliance with applicable statues, regulations and other legal requirements, and that all applicable company procedures and policies are followed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.Field of Study: Liberal Arts, Business or a related discipline.Experience: 6 months to 3 years of related experience.

VIEW JOBS 11/14/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-12T00:00 Job Title: Patient Access Representative | Family Medicine | Aberdeen City: Aberdeen State: South Dakota Department : ABERDEEN PBB FAMILY MED Job Schedule: PRN Shift: Varies Hours Per Shift: 8 hr JOB SUMMARY Two major functions of the Patient Access Representative (PAR) are patient registration and scheduling. Depending on setting, the PAR may only perform registration or scheduling duties, while in other settings, the PAR may perform both registration and scheduling duties. In all settings, the PAR performs additional duties, as assigned. Duties vary by location/setting. In a registration role, the Patient Access Representative greets patients, verifies patient demographics to accurately register and/or schedule patients, and takes care of related paperwork. Creates electronic patient files; provides, scans, and routes necessary patient forms and documents. Educates patients and captures patient signatures on necessary paperwork. Establishes and assigns financial responsibility and/or assists with arrangements while adhering to appropriate policies and procedures. Collects co-payments, pre-payments, and/or payments on account balances. May also work through the registration work queue to address and resolve issues specific to registration, including work queue errors, denied insurance claims, and maintenance of the registration database. In a scheduling role, the Patient Access Representative schedules patient appointments and procedures, obtains and coordinates referrals, conducts pre-authorization, arranges interpreter services, checks patients in/out, and offers patient enrollment to additional Sanford resources. Collaborates with nursing team and providers to coordinate appointments to meet patients' needs. May coordinate provider schedule, resolve work queue issues and manage recall and waitlists. Operates multi-line telephones and depending on location, may serve as a switchboard operator calling codes and paging providers. Based on setting, additional duties may include preparation and coordination of charts; organizing supporting provider documents; discussing pre-payment responsibilities; initiation of patient financial assistance; prior authorization; track patient visits; collaborating with patient financial services and health information management on patient accounts; work on weekly and monthly reports; compiling, distributing, administering and scoring of assessments; coordination of Telemed appointments; provider and schedule maintenance; charge entry/billing and charge verification; reminder calls for appointments; hospital admission; make copies, send faxes, and order supplies. In all settings, the Patient Access Representative serves as a mentor for new Patient Access Representatives and other staff. Displays professionalism and promotes an atmosphere of mutual respect and cooperation. Must be able to work as part of a team and also work independently. Frequently takes direction from nursing team. Must always maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Requires excellent customer service and the ability to empathize with patients and their situations. Working knowledge of medical terminology and use of professional written communication when making notes. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Greet visitors, ascertain purpose of visit, and direct them to appropriate staff. Registers patients and obtains admission data, as well as demographics and insurance information through patient interviewing. Verifies all insurance information is up to date and correct; maintains patient data in an electronic registration system and on patients chart. Works with providers to secure necessary medical records and authorize routine treatments. Answer telephones and direct calls to appropriate staff. Helps patients fill out forms and sign related documents according to prescribed procedures. Schedule tests or procedures for patients, such as lab work or x-rays, based on physician orders. Operates and maintains standard office equipment such as copiers, faxes, phones. QUALIFICATIONS May require BLS for certain locations and/or settings.
