Wexford Health has an exceptional opportunity for a CRNP/PA to join our team of healthcare professionals at Kilby Correctional Facility in Montgomery, Alabama.

Responsible and accountable for evaluating and treating inmate patients upon referral. Acts as a consultant to the nursing staff. Responsible for the delivery of contracted services, personnel, and coordination of medical health services and programs.

POSITION SUMMARY

  • Under direct supervision of the designated Wexford Health manager and clinical supervision of the Medical Director, is responsible and accountable for evaluating and treating inmates upon referral and acts as a consultant to the nursing staff.

  • Examine for, recognize and interpret symptoms of patient conditions

  • Prepare patients for and perform or assist in special treatments, procedures and examinations

  • Perform historical and physical examinations

  • Assist or perform with supervision, minor surgical procedures

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Standard medical setting in a correctional facility, which includes daily interfacing with inmates, correctional staff, and health care personnel. Temperature extremes may be encountered while moving throughout the facility outdoors and indoors in buildings without air conditioning.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

The following requirements list the minimum to qualify. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.

LICENSING: Current license as a Clinical Nurse Practitioner/Specialist in the State of Alabama

CERTIFICATION: Board Certification by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

EDUCATION: Master's of Science degree in Nursing.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 2 years' experience as a NP/PA

Medical Assistants work under the direct supervision of a physician. and/or, depending on scope of practice, direct and indirect clinical guidance of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.</p><p>JOB RELATIONSHIPS</p><p>REPORTS TO:</p><p>Clinical supervision provided by the Physician and/or, depending on scope of practice, direct and indirect clinical guidance of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. administrative supervision from the Health Services Administrator</p><p>SUPERVISES:</p><p>None exercised in this position</p><p>INTER-RELATES WITH:</p><p>All health care unit personnel, patients, site administration staff, security staff, clinical providers, and regional team members as required</p><p>DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES</p><ul><li><p>Obtain and monitor vital signs of infirmary/medical unit patients.</p></li><li><p>Transcribes and implements physician orders</p></li><li><p>Implement medical plan through interventions in accordance with provider instructions and scope of practice.</p></li><li><p>Assist nurses as needed in the medical unit within the scope of practice.</p></li><li><p>Prepares treatment room for patients.</p></li><li><p>Gathers and documents patient data</p></li><li><p>Assists physicians and mid level providers with examinations</p></li><li><p>Maintain inventory supplies</p></li><li><p>Following policy and utilizing appropriate documents, flow sheets and forms, will document all health-related encounters for patients.</p></li><li><p>Assist physician or nurse with minor procedures and treatments.</p></li><li><p>Maintain and clean medical equipment on a daily basis as needed.</p></li><li><p>Identify basic signs and symptoms of deviations from normal health status. Provide this information to the nurse and/or physician.</p></li><li><p>Work in conjunction with nurses to maintain daily duties required to run the medical unit in an organized fashion.</p></li><li><p>Collect basic subjective and objective date from observations and interviews. Provide this information to the nurse and/or physician.</p></li><li><p>Obtain vital signs and perform initial screening on sick call clients consistent with scope of practice.</p></li><li><p>Provide appropriate first aid and CPR. Report findings to the nurse and/or physician.</p></li><li><p>Clean, package and sterilize instruments.</p></li><li><p>Maintain needle, syringe and instrument inventory and record of receipt and issuance.</p></li><li><p>Inventory and restock first aid kits, supply rooms, etc.</p></li><li><p>Check expiration dates on medications and supplies.</p></li><li><p>Provides patient teaching as instructed</p></li><li><p>Performs clerical duties such as answering the phone, filing documents in patient record.</p></li></ul><p>Upon receiving the necessary training and/or instruction, performs other related duties as required or assigned</p><p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS</p><p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
