Responsibilities

The Data Center Facility Technician will be responsible for the day-to-day operational needs of Iron Mountain data center facilities. He/she will maintain the operating condition of building structures and critical infrastructure equipment of the Data Centers.

Technician must be able to work multiple shifts including weekends and double shifts if required. CF Technicians are able to quickly assess problems and either make a necessary repair or manage the repair. They must be able to work without little or no supervision

Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following activities:
1.Able to work multiple shifts including weekends and double shifts if required.
2.Able to quickly asses the problem and either make the repair or manage the repair by calling out one of our vendors.
3.Attend ongoing training to meet minimum job requirements and as new equipment or process are developed.
4.Perform daily inspections of the critical infrastructure including data collection and evaluation
5.Construct, test, install, and repair power circuits and data cables to computer equipment.
6.Repair and perform preventive maintenance on CRAHs, AHUs, Chillers, Pumps, Cooling Towers, Plumbing, and Insulation,
7.Troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, and control systems and equipment.
8.Supervise external vendors to ensure the regulations and operational procedures are followed.
9.Able to work without little or no supervision
10. Able to operate UPSs, Generators, Automatic Transfer Switchs, Switchgear, Chillers, Variable Frequency Drives, Motor Starters, Power Meters, Computer Based Control/Alarm systems, Fire Alarm, Security Alarm, CCTV and Card Access.
11. Should possess a good understanding of the following test devices: Multi-meter, IR Meter, Data Cable Tester, Power Analyzer
12. Review and update complex mechanical and electrical drawings
13. Must be able to follow procedures to the letter without deviating

Qualifications
1.The successful candidate must be a graduate from an apprenticeship, trade school, or have at least 5 years of experience in one or more of the following Trades:
1.Commercial Electrician preferably in a Data Center environment with electrical maintenance experience.
2.Electronics Technician preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment with VFD and DDC controls experience.
3.Commercial HVAC Technician with chiller, water pump, and cooling tower experience.
4.Facility engineering with critical infrastructure experience.
5.Controls and Instrumentation Technician
6.Appropriate military training and service such as the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
2.A valid drivers license
3.Basic mechanical skills for servicing lubricating and replacing belts on air handlers pump repair, and troubleshooting
4.Must live within one hour drive of the facility
5.Be able to reproduce, from memory, single line diagrams of all data centers in assigned location
6.Have knowledge of the theory of operation of: Generators, double conversion UPS, transformers, circuit breaker panels, switchgear, centrifugal pumps, remotely actuated valves, cooling towers, chillers (including the refrigeration cycle), and heat exchangers
7.Perform service electrical tasks such as whip/electrical circuit pulls
8.Familiarity with the procedures for performing hot work on energized electrical panels including OSHA safeguards and protective equipment
9.Ability to learn and retain sequence-of-operations for all data centers in assigned location
10. Knowledge of the theory of data center fire detection and suppression. Practical knowledge of firefighting is recommended
11. Knowledge of basic electrical theory including Ohm's Law, AC power, power/voltage/current relationship, grounding, and electrical circuits.

    Walking, standing, sitting, lifting 80 lbs, bending, crawling under raised floors, climbing up to 40 feet, and vision must have good recognition of colors.

    Requirements:
    Up to 10% travel, nationally.
    2.Utilization of Equipment:Laptop/desktop computer, telephone, hand tools, power tools, testing and metering equipment, automobiles,golf carts, fork lifts, tractors, and ATVs.
    3.Licenses & Certifications:Electrical and/or mechanical licensure or trade school certification preferred.

VIEW JOBS 12/12/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-03-12T00:00 United States of America - Virginia, Manassas Job Summary AECOM is seeking a high level Data Center Controls / Response Technician to join our critical environment operations & maintenance team in a data center in Manassas, VA. * These positions typically work 12-hour shifts from 7:00am – 7:00pm OR 7:00pm – 7:00am; shifts alternate every 4 months. * Must be able to flex hours and cover for team members and special projects to meet critical business demand. * Hiring bonus may be available to qualified candidates outside of the commuting area. The Data Center Controls / Response Technicians provide critical site support by responding to alerts and alarms via the site-based building automated monitoring and control systems. * Responsible for providing an advanced level of expertise in maintaining, troubleshooting, and servicing all aspects of the building automated systems . * Must have the ability to maintain, improve, and participate in troubleshooting for the associated HVAC equipment serving the spaces monitored. Oversight and hands-on troubleshooting experience with electrical and mechanical systems are desired, across the spectrum of technologies that support continuous operations – generators, transfer switches, power distribution equipment, cooling units, and fire suppression systems. * Experience with Automated Logic Control and Tridium , or other systems such as Honeywell, Edstrom, and Siemens Controls and associated instrumentation, is preferred. * Experience with Kyoto units is highly desired. May collaborate with other specialized technicians or subcontractors to perform facility-related repairs. Provides instruction, mentors and trains less skilled technicians as needed. Effectively communicates with the site management team and the customer to understand requirements, and solve complex monitoring and control problems. Responsibilities: * Oversee mechanical and electrical systems, to include overseeing and monitoring all components of the site infrastructure to ensure operational integrity. * Interact with monitoring systems to ensure physical site conditions are mirrored within remote monitoring applications * Update and maintain site operational practices and policies * Respond to emergencies and immediately stabilize the facility. * Monitor suppliers and third party vendors as required to facilitate Critical Environment workflows. * Act as Point of Contact (POC) for after-hours issues regarding the critical environment and schedule/coordinate third party suppliers including facility access. * Communicate with remote and local supporting personnel via email, telephone, and corporate ticketing system * Navigate Alertfind, DCO Runbook, Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and Critical Environment SharePoint. * Perform scheduled walkthroughs of the environment to check for system faults, escalate as needed * Finds solutions and helps with procurement of spare parts. * Identifies and documents cost savings. * Perform preventive maintenance on equipment as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). * Respond and provide service and feedback to the customer on all work orders while assuring compliance to codes, regulations and industry standards. * Analyze and resolve work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems * Demonstrate attention to detail, good comprehensive and analytical skills, and excellent organizational skills. * Understand company policies and enforce safety regulations.
