The Lunder 6 Neuroscience ICU is a twenty-two-bed unit dedicated to the treatment of neuroscience patients who require intensive medical and nursing management. The patients cared for in this unit include acute embolic stroke, cerebral hemorrhage, seizure, head injury, spinal cord injury, post-surgical and post-interventional.
Under the direction of a registered nurse (RN), the Critical Care Tech/Patient Care Associate (PCA) assists the multi-disciplinary health care team in clinical support functions to promote a safe, compassionate patient care environment. PCA assists multi-disciplinary health care team by assisting patients with daily living needs, monitoring & reading vital signs, drawing blood, and obtaining EKGs. Responds to patient requests in a timely manner, safeguarding patient confidentiality, monitoring patient safety, and always communicating in a respectful manner.
Current CNA certificate for Massachusetts and previous experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
Effective customer service orientation and the ability to interact with diverse groups of patients, staff and providers.
Demonstrated ability to solve basic patient and practice problems using a combination of strong interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail and superior organizational skills.
Ability to lift and transport patients, using the appropriate physical technique, in a safe manner for the patient and self.
