Crisis Response Clinician will work with first responders, provide crisis intervention and de-escalation services for adults and children experiencing behavioral health crisis. Work on scene, conduct mental health assessment, engage in de-escalation, make appropriate referrals, and conduct follow-up services.

Work collaboratively with law enforcement, area hospitals, and partnering agencies to coordinate services. Receive clinical supervision from Medical Director and higher level staff.

PUBLIC SAFETY SUMMARY

Act as Crisis Response Clinician for Bernalillo County Public Safety Division, with focuses on educating, counseling, possible pre-employment screening and evaluating the mental health needs of members of Bernalillo County Public Safety. Provide delivery of treatment services in a manner consistent with the department's treatment modality.

Provide evaluation, assessment, crisis intervention, safety planning and referrals for members of Bernalillo County Public Safety. Help develop curriculums to proactively address issues impacting Public Safety, such as PTSD, substance abuse, and suicide. Provide clinically based training to other professionals within the department on a variety of topics or as assigned.

BCSO SUMMARY

Crisis Response Clinician (Mobile Crisis Team) will work with first responders, provide crisis intervention and de-escalation services for adults and children experiencing behavioral health crisis. Work on scene, conduct mental health assessment, engage in de-escalation, make appropriate referrals, and conduct follow-up services.

Work collaboratively with law enforcement, area hospitals, and partnering agencies to coordinate services. Receive clinical supervision from higher level staff.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FUNCTIONAL AREAS 1. Respond in person with the assigned law enforcement officer/first responder to mental health calls requesting assistance with citizens in crisis who may have psychological and/or associated mental health emergencies and chronic mental illness. 2.

Prepare and maintain written reports that contain clinical material secure, confidential, and in compliance with state and federal privacy requirements. 3.

Evaluate a wide range of crisis issues and supply appropriate information and referral services to resolve problems. 4. Conduct concise and mobile bio-psychosocial evaluations of clients experiencing an acute psychiatric emergency. 5.

Assess safety, determine services needed and make appropriate referrals, considering client preferences. 6.

Provide short term, solution focused clinical intervention. 7. Develop or participate in the development of safety plans or crisis management plans to assist individuals in maintaining personal safety and the safety of those around them when under increased stress. 8.

Actively engage the individual and their natural supports and treatment providers in this process and plan development. 9.

After assessment, and only when appropriate, write a Certificate of Evaluation that will allow for safe transport to the hospital. 10. Communicate effectively with other staff members. 11.

Be available to take on call phone periodically. 12.

Perform other job related duties as assigned. PUBLIC SAFETY 1.

Work as part of a co-responder team to meet specialized needs of Public Safety employees. 2. Respond to and evaluate staff after a wide range of crisis events, as part of a team or individually. 3. Conduct brief safety/risk assessments (suicidality/homicidality, e.g.) using trauma informed approach for Public Safety employees. 4.

Provide short-term, solution focused clinical interventions as indicated. 5. Follow-up with Public Safety employees who based on assessment reveal needs for follow-up contact and support. 6. Develop follow-up action plans with individuals, as needed. 7.

Provide on-call support, as needed. 8. Conduct Mental Health Assessments, as needed. 9. Maintain sensitive and confidential information appropriately. 10.

Will support Peer Support Coordinator and Peer Support Program with professional guidance. 11. Provide support for other Public Safety programs such as Peer Support, Chaplaincy Program, (MAP) liaison, and (EAP) liaison. 12. Help develop a strong program for new hires and their transition to help prepare them for mental health self-advocacy and awareness. 13.

Coordinate with mental health agencies in the community and mental health support resources. 14. Research and implement a strong and effective alcohol/drug awareness and prevention program with wellness and job security in mind. 15. Create a comprehensive suicide risk assessment. 16. 100% exposure to Public Safety employees through cyclical visits and taking advantage of all opportunities to interact with employees. 17.

Build trust through participation in sit-ins and ride-a-longs. 18. Work with Peer Support and Public Safety programs in the event of a member's suicide, death of an employee, or severe medical events involving Public Safety employees. 19. Perform related duties and other assignments as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field, and two (2) years of work experience in mental health, plus licensing as a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) or a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS). ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS The offer of this Bernalillo County position requires compliance with the following: 1. Employee must successfully complete the post-offer employment medical examination and background investigation. 2.

Pursuant to the criminal history screening for Caregivers Act, Section 29-17-1 through Section 29-17-5 NMSA 1978, new hires at the Behavioral Health Services facility will be required to complete a caregiver criminal history screening for all caregivers.

Conviction of a disqualifying condition is cause for termination or sufficient reason not to hire if applicant has a disqualifying condition on their record at time of application. 3.

Employee must comply with the safety guidelines of the County. 4. Employee complete required FEMA training(s) as assigned to position. 5.

Employee must have a valid New Mexico driver's license by employment date and maintain a valid NM driver's license while employed in this position. WORKING CONDITIONS 1. Duties are performed both indoors and outdoors.

Indoor duties are performed in a temperature-controlled environment. Workers also exposed to natural weather conditions, which may be severe while performing outdoor duties. Indoor duties are performed on an even surface which may be carpet, tile, or concrete.

Indoor surfaces are typically dry. Outdoor duties may be performed on even or uneven surfaces which may be wet or dry. Work hazards or potential work hazards include a possibility of personal injury from violent residents, or heavy exertion activities while restraining or pursuing residents.

Fieldwork is required on a frequent basis. Employee may be required to work a flexible schedule. EQUIPMENT, TOOLS AND MATERIALS Utilizes computers and communication equipment on a daily basis. Materials and products handled include various forms and office supplies.
