POSITION: Criminology Graduate Assistant
DEPARTMENT: Sociology and Criminology
REPORTS TO: Chair, Sociology and Criminology
HOURS NEEDED PER WEEK: 10 - 15
HOURLY RATE: $15.00 OR INTERNSHIP STIPEND
DATES (APPROXIMATE): April 10 - May 12, 2024
EXPECTATIONS FOR ALL DOMINICAN WORKERS:
To support the University's mission of preparing students to pursue truth, to give compassionate service, and to participate in the creation of a more just and humane world.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
sist with inputting information and organizing Canvas pages and modules for department page and courses; Posting events to Canvas and sharing with groups on campus; Assist with setting up Canvas for senior exit exam and communicating with students about the exam
Assist with grading for certain assignments in Criminology undergraduate course; Assist with reviewing senior exit exam data
Preparing documents for classes; Assistance with proofreading documents
Assistance with research projects, including library research
Assistance with the development and editing of assignments and syllabi
Handling requests for desk copies and review copies of course books, assisting with book availability verification
Assist the department with office projects and management
May be asked to transcribe some audio interviews
May be asked to review some multiple choice grading assignments or record grades,
Assist with planning Criminology and Sociology graduate reunion and Pi Gamma Mu ceremony
Assist with seeking information and building relationships with Sociology and Criminology graduate programs, internship sites, and scholarship organizations
Fulfill all trainings and activities required of Dominican Student employees, including DCFS and One Process trainings and reporting activities
Performs other duties as requested, delegated or assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Currently enrolled at least part-time in a Dominican graduate program
BASIC COMPETENCIES: (Required knowledge, skills, abilities)
Computer and library research skills
Writing skills
Good attention to detail
Able to manage own schedule and maintain accurate timecard by logging into system as required
