Qualifications: The successful candidate shall demonstrate strong organizational, communication, human relations, instructional, classroom management, team and public relations/community skills.

Applicants should have a sincere interest and a commitment to work with students, parents, staff, businesses, community organizations and associate district schools. The Criminal Justice Instructor should possess an Ohio Peace Officer Training Certificate or equivalent with at least five (5) years experience in law enforcement. EMT-Basic or higher is a plus. Also possess an Ohio Peace Officer Instructor Certificate or the ability to obtain one.

Certification/Licensure: Applicants must hold a Standard Career-Technical Trade and Industrial Job Training Criminal Justice Certificate/License; OR (the following options must be approved on a VE-36 Qualification Evaluation Form by the district or on a VE-37 Teacher Eligibility and Education Verification Form), have a high school diploma or GED and five years of approved work experience (10,000 hours with 6,000 hours completed within the last five years) in Criminal Justice or a related field; OR have an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice and three years of approved work experience (6,000 hours completed within the last five years) in Criminal Justice or a related field; OR Baccalaureate Degree not in Criminal Justice or Education and five years of approved work experience (10,000 hours with 6,000 hours completed within the last five years); OR Baccalaureate Degree in Education not in Criminal Justice and five years of approved work experience (10,000 hours with 6,000 hours completed within the last five years); OR Baccalaureate Degree in Criminal Justice and two years of approved work experience (4,000 hours completed within the last five years). Applicants from industry will be required to complete state university/college teacher preparation course work. (A pre-employment three or four-week summer class at a selected state university/college is required if the applicant is not certified/licensed as a teacher.) Passage of a basic skills test (PRAXIS I) is recommended prior to consideration for employment if the applicant is not certified/licensed.

Duties: The Criminal Justice Instructor will teach junior and/or senior laboratory and related instruction in Criminal Justice, Public Safety and EMT-Basic.

The instructor will work closely with the immediate supervisor, advisory committee and academic teachers to coordinate instruction and to prepare students for successful completion of the Criminal Justice program. The instructor should be able to teach and manage labs in the Criminal Justice program.

Contract: 2024-2025 Contract - 183 contracted days. Contract to begin August 13, 2024 or earlier as needed.

Salary: Appropriate placement on 2024-2025 teachers' salary schedule based on certification/ licensure, education/degree and experience.
