This is responsible work of more than average difficulty performing advanced technical duties requiring specialized knowledge, training and work experience in crime scene investigation.
Employees in this class are responsible for gathering, classifying, preserving, and transporting physical and trace evidence such as latent prints, blood and body fluids, projectiles, hairs, fibers, clothing, bedding, weapons, casts of impressions and any objects deemed to have evidentiary value.
Major crime scenes include, but are not limited to homicides, suicides, suspicious deaths, aggravated assaults/battery, arsons, armed robberies, auto thefts, burglaries, child abuse, elderly abuse, traffic fatalities, and rapes.
Work involves photography, sketching, plaster cast construction, latent fingerprint detection, maintenance of evidence continuity, and testifying in courtroom prosecution.
Duties require the use of technical skills and judgment in recognizing materials that can significantly assist in solving crimes and prosecuting offenders.
Contact with contaminated, corrosive or explosive materials, and exposure to infectious or communicable diseases may result from the performance of some assigned tasks.
Employees in this class may be required to work on shifts with variable hours or of an extended duration.
Work may also require 24 hour call-out availability based upon the size and scope of a crime scene.
Work assignments are normally received in general outlines.
Employees develop work sequences within established methods and procedures, and exercise considerable initiative and independent judgment in performing work.
Work is reviewed and evaluated by a law enforcement supervisor for conformance with departmental directives and policies, through direct observation, in conferences with the employee, and through work records and reports.
NOTE : The duties of this position will include all of those duties set forth in the official job description.
This job classification is included within the bargaining unit represented by Teamsters Local Union 769 and therefore is subject to the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Fort Lauderdale and Teamsters Local Union 769.
Salary Range will increase 2.05% effective October 7, 2018.
Have successfully graduated from a standard high school or possess an acceptable GED certificate from an accredited issuing agency, preferably with college level coursework in law enforcement or a closely related field.
Have at least five (5) years of work experience in a paraprofessional capacity with a law enforcement agency, including at least one (1) year in crime scene investigation work.
An Associate's Degree in forensic science from an accredited college or university may be substituted for four (4) years of the required law enforcement paraprofessional experience noted in #2 above; however, no substitution is allowed for the required one (1) year of crime scene investigation work experience.
Possess or be able to obtain a valid Florida Driver's License and have an acceptable driving record.
NOTE: Candidates will be required to pass a background investigation which includes a polygraph examination prior to employment.
THE EXAMINATION AND HOW TO APPLY: Depending on the number of applications and the quality of their education and experience, the examination may consist of one or more of the following tests: Evaluation of Training and Experience, Oral Interview, Written Examination, or other assessment method.
Applicants must attain a minimum of 70 in each part of the examination in order to qualify.
An eligible veteran who enters an open-competitive examination shall receive preference points added to the total passing score earned in the examination as provided for in the Florida Statutes.
To obtain veteran's preference, candidates MUST submit a copy of separation papers and the City of Fort Lauderdale's veteran's preference claim form ( J204 ). Closing Date/Time: Continuous

Job Description: At Regions, our Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Investigator III completes extensive thorough investigations of fraud and other alerts and referrals for suspicious activity. This position may lead and oversee the work of less experienced BSA/AML Investigators. Primary Responsibilities * Determines suspicious activity report (SAR) filing requirements * Recommends SAR or NO-SAR decision for bank filing * Completes detailed multi-page narratives of investigation findings in the form of a SAR or no SAR memo to file as appropriate, and reviews all cases for completeness and accuracy * Ensures compliance with approved policies and procedures related to BSA/AML including case documentation * May provide training to less experienced analysts This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards act and is not eligible for overtime pay.
