Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager (SSM) I, the Crime Analyst (CA) III in the Imaging and Record Services Section (IRSS) is the expert level analyst for the retention and digital update of records contained in the criminal history record repository, contained electronically in the Automated Archive System (AAS) and manually on site. The CA III is responsible for developing and conducting training for staff in all aspects of the scanning workflow processes to digitize manual criminal records. The CA III will also be responsible for developing and conducting training and auditing of internal and external law enforcement stakeholders, both in person and virtual modules, regarding the use of criminal record repository systems. The CA III will maintain and update program procedures for the manual and electronic workflow processes in the IRSS. The CA III must possess extensive knowledge of the criminal justice system and independently research issues and new legislation to determine impact to workflows for the criminal history repository. The CA III also represents the Department of Justice (DOJ) in internal and external stakeholder meetings for workflow process changes and system enhancement requests. The CA III is expected to independently research and resolve the most complex issues for criminal records and make recommendations and reports to management for resolution.

Working Conditions

This position is eligible for telework up to 1 day a week after probation, in accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. A teleworker is considered Remote-centered if they work fifty percent or more of their time from an alternate work location. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

This position is designated for telework under Government Code section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California and may require reporting to headquarters or field offices and facilities to fulfill operational needs. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the Department of Justice policies.
