Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Crime Analyst Supervisor (CAS), the Crime Analyst (CA) II is considered the technical expert and resource within the Cal-ID Program. The CA II searches, analyzes, compares, and resolves difficult to complex fingerprint and palm print transactions and errors through the use of the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS). The CA II must have a working knowledge of friction ridge examination, Department of Justice (DOJ) databases, and the criminal justice system in order to research and problem-solve production issues. Duties also include Record Review, Jane/John Doe, and Department of Motor Vehicles casework and courtroom testimony.

Working Conditions

This position is designated for telework under Government Code section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California and may require reporting to headquarters or field offices and facilities to fulfill operational needs. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the Department of Justice policies.

This position offers 3 days telework/2 days on-site after completing 1 year probation (subject to change).

This position is located in the California Justice Information Services Division, Bureau of Criminal Information and Analysis, Records & Biometric Identification Branch, Cal-ID Program.
