Crew Supervisor - Facilities

The City of Johnson City, Tennessee is currently accepting applications for a Crew Supervisor with the Facilities Department. The Crew Supervisor performs difficult skilled work supervising public service workers, motor equipment operators and other personnel engaged in general maintenance and repair work; does related work as required. This is responsible supervisory work that involves assigning and inspecting the work of semiskilled or unskilled workers and operators in the performance of a wide variety of jobs which require technical knowledge or skill. Areas of work and standards to be met are assigned in detail by a supervisor, and the work performed is checked in process and upon completion.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Discusses job requirements with and receives advice and direction from supervisor;

• Inspects work in progress to assure conformance with instructions;

• Makes and adjusts work assignments;

• Performs or assists in performing more difficult or skilled tasks;

• Trains and instructs subordinates;

• Ensures safety practices of workforce and facilities;

• Performs related tasks as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of methods, materials and techniques used in municipal public works construction projects; general knowledge of the street, thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work; ability to assign and supervise the work of others; dependability.

Acceptable Experience and Training: Completion of high school or GED and considerable experience as a semiskilled worker or heavy equipment operator; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. A valid commercial driver's license issued by the State of Tennessee is required, or the ability to obtain a Tennessee Commercial Vehicle Driver License (CDL) within one hundred and twenty (120) days of employment. Pre-employment DOT physical, drug screening and background check required.
