The purpose of this job is to plan, organize, and assign tasks to crew members involved in the construction and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution and transmission lines and fiber optic cables. Trains employees and ensures safety, quality, and compliance or workgroup operations. Operates complete variety of equipment in the work group.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description
  • Leads and coordinates the work of a group of employees; assigns and prioritizes tasks; guides employees to instruct or advise on tasks or assignments.

  • Ensures maintenance and construction of overhead and underground distribution and transmission circuits are completed in compliance with company policies and National Electrical Code (NEC).

  • Coordinates services with employees, customers, and utilities.

  • Ensures proper use of tools/equipment, installation of materials, and adherence to safety procedures.

  • Maintains records, reports, and files.

  • Troubleshoots and resolves problems with lines and equipment.

  • Maintains 24/7 availability and provides services to customers in a timely manner.

  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • No supervisory authority. Work does require providing guidance and the potential to oversee another employee. This position may oversee work quality, training, instructing, and work assignments.

Education and Experience

  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered

Education and Experience

  • Associate's Degree or 2 years of college preferred.

  • Successful completion of a four-year certified/accredited apprenticeship and a minimum of two years of experience as a journey-level line worker.

Licenses or Certifications

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with no air brake restriction.

  • Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certification.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position

Knowledge of:

  • Standard practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment related to electrical distribution equipment maintenance and repair.

  • Safety standards and precautions pertaining to the use and operation of hand/power tools and equipment.

  • Relevant laws and regulations pertaining to National Electric Code and safety practices.

  • Common business software applications such as Microsoft Office, Google Calendar, and Google Mail.

Skill in:

  • Estimating time and materials needed to complete jobs.

  • Communicating verbally and in writing to meet the needs of the audience.

  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships.

  • Operating equipment and tools.

  • Providing guidance and training to less experienced employees.
