Title: Credit Team Leader
Office Location: Apple Valley, MN

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The incumbent services Compeers internal and external clients by providing guidance and resources for direct reports in structuring credit packages. Participates in the ongoing design of processes to provide exceptional service and achieve satisfactory credit administration goals which results in achievement of targeted credit quality with adequate compensation for risk. Provides analysis and direction for analysis of loan applications for new or renewed loans and loan servicing. Completes and/or leads the analysis and loan structuring efforts for the most complex loans. Directly manages all team members within the assigned team including selecting, developing, motivating, evaluating, educating and compensating team members.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Leadership: Identifies and implements short and long term strategies and tactics for the department; effectively initiates and leads change, at times beyond the department
Management: Responsible for selecting, developing, motivating, evaluating, and compensating direct reports within the department.
Credit Expertise & Analysis: Provides accurate financial analysis for complex client relationships by utilizing various software applications and other related systems; qualifies, validates, and may reconcile financial information utilized in the credit decision making process; completes accrual earnings reconciliation, as needed; remains updated on the industries serviced by the assigned office and/or business unit; maintains a working knowledge of various risk mitigation tools including FSA, RFA, SBA, USDA, and Farmer MAC programs; completes industry specific research to validate key cash flow projections; serves as a mentor for less experienced team members; works closely with sales team to complete financial counseling with key clients.
Client Service: Provides prompt turn around on credit and servicing requests; communicates the status of loans in process with internal credit, sales, and operations to insure coordination between external client and Compeer; supports all Compeer goals and achievement of market share growth by both the operations department and the lending team
Credit Administration & Reporting: Proactively monitors the loan performance for the organization and provides direction for loan classification; works directly with sales team or with clients to develop a plan to cure loan delinquencies; monitors database exception reports to ensure proper financial, collateral, and loan classifications are accurate; monitors utilization of Scorecard and provides ongoing counseling of its use; serves as a resource/mentor for team members in trending and understanding financial information and entry of this information into the lending systems; coordinates with sales and RAU teams to develop servicing plans for higher risk client relationships; serves as a key resource for both internal and external audit teams
Industry Guidance/Resource: May provide, authorize, and conduct industry guidance and presentations to senior management and Board of Directors

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Bachelors degree in agriculture economics, finance, accounting, business administration, related field, or equivalent work experience.
7-10 years lending experience in agriculture credit and operations.
2 years of leadership and management experience required.
Knowledge of core agricultural crop and livestock industries and production practices.
Thorough knowledge of credit processing and servicing activities, accounting principles and practices, credit analysis procedures, and credit administration.
Thorough knowledge of loan products, services, and credit operations.
Knowledge of various risk mitigation tools including FSA, RFA, SBA, USDA, and Farmer Mac Programs.
Strong interpersonal, communication, team building, problem solving, analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
Strong decision making, negotiating, and influencing skills.
Advanced computer skills including MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and client databases such as CRM and the loan origination system.
Valid drivers license.
