Credit Risk Specialist

Credit Risk Assessment (CRA) is considered part of the third line of defense. CRA is responsible for providing an objective, independent, and timely assessment of the overall quality of Country Club Bank's loan portfolio and is accountable to the organization's Chief Risk Officer and the Bank's Board of Directors. This position is responsible for performing a variety of duties relating to the credit risk review function in order to assist in the ongoing management of credit risk and asset quality; achieving goals as established in the department's annual scope; complying with operating policies and procedures established for the credit risk review function; communicating with appropriate personnel; responding to inquiries and requests for information; maintaining appropriate records and providing reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough credit reviews to analyze adherence to loan policy and procedure, credit quality, collateral valuation, accuracy of core operating system, loan structure and loan documentation. Additionally, identify risk and trends in the borrower's performance, portfolio segments, industries and markets based on the unique and dynamic characteristics of each.

  • Review, risk grade and critique the Bank's commercial loan portfolios as they relate to the Bank's risk rating system, banking industry best practices and the Bank's risk appetite.

  • Generate a high-quality Credit Review Line Sheet as a result of the duties outlined above as well as other reports as needed to fully analyze each credit assigned in the portfolio.

  • Consistently communicate in a professional manner that is constructive and influential; especially while discussing issues and conclusions with lenders and management.

  • Assist in the preparation of information for Board committees, complete other tasks as assigned by manager or other members of management.

  • Identify and address areas of personal performance in which continuing development or additional training is desired or required in order to further enhance professional development.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in bank information systems. Refine and develop effective information gathering and reporting methods that facilitate risk-based analysis and risk management.

  • Be capable of producing high-quality output, while meeting established production requirements and review schedule deadlines.

Job Qualifications/ Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or institution with the major area of study in business administration, accounting, finance or other closely related field is required.

  • Possess a minimum of three years of professional experience in loan review, regulatory examinations, or commercial lending required.

  • Consistently demonstrate business writing and financial statement analysis skills; interpersonal relations and communication skills; a thorough knowledge of current bank lending principles, policies, and practices; knowledge of all types of lending and loan products; knowledge of current lending and collection laws and regulations; and proficiency in Personal Computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. Experience using FIS, IBS Insight, IS View, and Sageworks/Abrigo preferred, but not required.
