Primary Purpose:
The Credit Review Analyst I position provides an excellent opportunity to expand foundational credit knowledge into practical application for use in credit review, credit administration, portfolio management or lending. This position will expand on and gain a broad and in-depth understanding of credit underwriting, policies, documentation, regulation, and problem loan identification. With some oversight, the Credit Review Analyst I will prepare reports communicating review results to management.
This role provides an entry into the Credit Review Department and will join team members in fulfilling the overall mission to maintain the accuracy of risk ratings, and identify existing, increasing, or emerging risks within the loan portfolio. The primary function of the Credit Review Analysist I will be to review the loan portfolio with a focus on credit underwriting and credit file quality, adherence to regulatory requirements, policy, and approval guidelines, and identify loan documentation deficiencies. Top candidates should have basic loan knowledge and, with a high degree of guidance, will identify and assess risk and strive to provide efficient and effective written communication of findings to various audiences.
Essential Responsibilities:
The Credit Review Analyst I selects and conducts a credit review of new consumer and commercial loans generally under $1MM to identify weaknesses or deficiencies in:
Risk Grade Accuracy
Credit Underwriting
Credit Approval
Adherence to Regulatory and Policy Compliance
Adequacy and Completeness of Documentation
Credit File Quality
Problem Credit Identification and Management
Adequacy and Accuracy of Reports and Information Systems
Prepares meaningful, concise reporting of results, ensuring that all pertinent issues are properly recognized and clearly articulated to executive management, with oversight
Conducts reviews of certain product lines and prepares concise reporting of the results
Actively participates in the department's guidance of the TowneBank's Lead Associates and Interns
Participates in special projects, targeted and business unit reviews
Continually broadens knowledge of Regulatory and Bank policy, guidelines, processes, and best practices
Adheres to applicable federal laws, rules, and regulations including those related to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Skills & Competencies:
1 - 3 years of experience in Credit Review, Credit Analysis, lending, or lending support role gaining general knowledge of loan structuring, loan documentation, adherence to Regulatory requirements and Bank Policy. Previous experience should include the practice of sound judgement and developed decision-making skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills.
Basic knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, ImageCentre, Insight or equivalent banking systems.
Desired Skills & Competencies:
BA/BS in Finance, Business or Accounting preferred, but not required
Effective and efficient writing skills
Basic accounting, finance, and credit analysis skills
Communication skills to maneuver through adversarial situations in a fair and respectful manner
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Physical Requirements:
Express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word via email and verbally.
Exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, use your arms and legs, and sit most of the time.
Have close visual acuity to perform activities such as analyzing data, viewing a computer terminal, reading, and preparing documentation.
