Credit Compliance & Underwriting - Commercial Underwriting Officer II

Job Summary:

The Underwriting Officer is responsible for providing credit decision makers with the in-depth, independent risk analysis necessary for making informed credit decisions.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Underwrite the creditworthiness of prospective and existing borrowers, particularly in the larger dollar and more complex C&I credits to assist lenders and credit decision-makers in determining loan eligibility. Ensure appropriate credit underwriting, reliable risk assessment, and credit loss minimization consistent with credit policy and regulatory requirements.

• Financial statement analysis including UCA cash flow.

• Guarantor analysis.

• Borrowers' repayment ability.

• The Bank's collateral position.

• Industry analysis.

• Prepare in-depth, front-end analysis of credit request for the purposes of approval. This includes gathering all necessary financial information; discussion of credit request and financial information with customers in conjunction with business/credit partners and shepherding of the credit request through appropriate approval process.

• Make independent recommendations regarding credit risk supported by comprehensive analysis.

• Interact with credit approval officers, and lenders and participate in loan presentations to provide additional information and/or support conclusions reached in analysis. Serve as an accomplished resource regarding credit/industry analysis.

• Participate in joint calling on prospects and clients with Lenders to gather key information for proper credit analysis.

• Ensure the portfolio administration and risk management of each client relationship is in compliance with established credit policy, procedure and business strategy as well as commercial and regulatory guidelines.

• Suggest an asset quality rating based on relationship review. Compile an accurate relationship profitability analysis as directed by corporate policy.

Job Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or Bachelor of Science in related discipline, or equivalent work experience.

• 5 - 7 years' experience in commercial credit underwriting or related experience in a commercial bank with a focus on C&I deals in the $5 million to $30 million plus range. This includes but not limited to owner-occupied real estate, working capital, term-debt, equipment, and management buyouts/acquisitions, and asset-based lending.

• Through knowledge of financial statement analysis and demonstrated ability to identify and mitigate key risks.

• Experience with syndicated transactions is preferred.

• Completion of a formal credit training program is preferred.
