Department Overview

North American Credit Cards and Merchant Services (NACC&MS) organization was formed in Fall 2011 and brings together the credit cards and merchant services businesses in Canada and the US. TD's credit card products are distributed through the retail distribution network in the U.S. and Canada; on a national basis in Canada leveraging direct response channels; and, through hundreds of partnership programs with financial institutions, retailers, non-profit organization, sports teams, and other third party organizations. In addition, TD offers private label financing in the U.S. and Canada. With the acquisition of the MBNA portfolio in 2011, TD's credit card business is now ranked among the largest in Canada and among the top 10 in North America based on loans outstanding. TD's Merchant Services business provides merchants in Canada and the U.S. with a full range of payment processing services and solutions. TD provides merchant acquiring solutions to some of the largest retailers in Canada.

Job Description

The Project Specialist III coordinates projects in support of Company or department activities. Handles project details and assists others with more complex aspects of projects.

Requirements

  • Coordinates quality control and/or compliance activities and ensures adherence to quality standards.

  • Identifies opportunities for process improvements, training, and policy changes to advance service quality and/or streamline functions.

  • Identifies areas of opportunity for the USBC Customer Experience and performs additional duties as assigned.

  • Keeps staff informed of any procedural changes or enhancements.

  • Provides support to department leadership in performing trend analysis, information gathering, performance feedback and related activities.

  • Initiates and champions new projects based on personal knowledge of industry and Company; evaluates various alternatives based on extensive research and information and provides analysis of recommendations as needed; meets with department and other Company management as needed to gain approvals.

  • May supervise staff as directed; assigning, prioritizing and monitoring work.

  • Seeks help from management usually only with largest, most complex projects, typically during the project planning stage.

  • Manages self (and/or) team's controllable expenses to designated budget.

  • Provides input to department policies and procedures and ensures their proper implementation; ensures that area's activities comply with any applicable legal and regulatory guidelines.

Must be eligible for employment under regulatory standards applicable to the position.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or progressive work experience in addition to experience below

  • 5+ Years of related experience

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully plan, develop, lead and execute projects.

  • Proven ability to gather information and recommend solutions.

  • Excellent process improvement skills, including the ability to evaluate procedures and recommend improvements.

  • Excellent communication skills, including strong writing ability.

  • Effective presentation and influencing skills.

  • Supervisory experience preferred.

  • Strong PC Skills

Job Description The Business Line Financial Manager I performs financial analysis, planning, forecasting, and reporting for the Credit Card line of business under the limited guidance of financial management. In addition, the candidate provides highly specialized financial consulting and analytical support for new partnership deals, portfolio acquisitions, marketing programs, and segment level profitability. Identifies emerging financial trends, key performance metrics, and factors for success to aide the line of business in achieving financial return targets. Evaluates capital budgets and key initiative plans to balance costs and expected benefits through specialized analysis and modeling for projects. Requirements * Conducts complex financial analysis and projections for existing and potential Credit Card products and programs. * Provides financial, analytical, planning, and forecasting expertise to assist in the development and completion of business initiatives with understanding of the whole financial function and the key business areas supported. * Focus is on the complete Income Statement for Credit Card products, programs, or business segments with insight to components that have greater complexity (e.g., Expenses, Revenue, Volumes and their underlying drivers). * Creates specialized analytical tools for projects or ongoing use to determine portfolio level profitability as well as per account lifetime values. * May lead research efforts and review details of business operating metrics to actively identify and promote new opportunities or products. * Develops conclusions and courses of action to define a path forward on identified opportunities and issues. * Tests assumptions and predicts results of business initiatives through building of financial and business forecasting models. * Develops analyses of performance and predictive data to generate analytical reports and presentations highlighting insights. * Resolves escalated issues by conferring with business partners to determine the best solution. * Assists with leading activities of unit, assigning, prioritizing and monitoring work. * Provides training and mentoring for new and less experienced staff. Must be eligible for employment under regulatory standards applicable to the position. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree with preferred concentration in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, or Business * 7-10 years related experience required * In-depth knowledge of financial analysis, financial model-building and interpretive statistics with strong technical skills (Excel, SAS, Essbase) * Ability to employ complex analytical tools and statistics to perform analysis and forecasting of financial and other business performance information. * Capable of independently planning, developing, leading, and executing analytics projects with limited guidance. * Able to effectively interpret information, select appropriate techniques, take independent action, and communicate findings & recommendations to achieve objectives. * Strong interpersonal and consultative skills with well-developed communication and presentation abilities (written and verbal). * Manage competing priorities and make good decisions based on business priorities and objectives. * Practical knowledge of financial analysis techniques, tools, and methodologies. * Knowledge of accounting and the associated rules and regulations.
