U.S. Bank is seeking to hire a motivated Solutions Architect to work with our Integrated Card System (ICS). Candidate competencies and responsibilities include:

  • Technical definition and architecture experience to contribute toward the success of our technology initiatives.

  • Drives early alternatives review for solutions.

  • Facilitates improved estimating, planning and commitments for delivery teams by creating an intellectually understandable abstraction of a complex business and/or technology process change.

  • Translates functional requirements into a conceptual design.

  • Participates in the definition of non-functional requirements and ensures that the application architecture supports these requirements.

  • Designs application's technical infrastructure, such as application components, platforms, interfaces, development tools, and testing approaches.

  • Possesses broad knowledge of platforms and applications across all technologies.

  • Converts specifications into design approach instructions to solve business problems through automation support.

  • Reviews developer technical designs.

  • Provides strategic input for long-term application direction and executes on specific initiatives that support the long-term viability of the Integrated Card System.

  • Monitors and maintains compliance with Enterprise Architecture, Technology Standards, and Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity Planning.

  • Participates in evaluation of vendor products to determine conformance with bank technical standards and appropriate fit with business needs.

  • Uses models, hypotheses, and cognitive analysis techniques to elicit real problem-solving knowledge from the experts.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

  • At least 3 years experience with the concepts, philosophies and tools behind the design of applications, information and underlying information technologies

  • At least 8 years experience with developing and implementing applications

Preferred Skills/Experience

Extensive experience in:

  • System development life cycle

  • Requirementanalysis

  • Application development tools

  • Mainframe/COBOL/CICS/DB2

  • Distributed platforms

  • Programming languages

  • Product and vendor evaluation

  • Information security management

  • Application & system testing

  • User interface design

  • Credit card processing

Other preferred skills

  • Proven ability to lead technical definition in the typical ambiguity of larger designs and implementation plans

  • Solid communication skills, both written and oral

  • Strong ability to collaborate with delivery representatives, business analysts, PM's, testers, enterprise architecture, and application groups outside of ICS

  • Engaging approach, with a hands-on style to solving business issues through technology

  • Practical and thoughtful understanding of architectural & development principles and technique

  • Proven ability to develop effective conceptual diagrams and other architectural documentation is essential
