Requirements / Qualifications

THE POSITION: The Credentials Specialist provides assistance to teachers, school districts, and private educators in processing applications for credentials and issues Temporary County Certificates.

This position reports to the assigned administrator. LOCATION: 313 W. Winton Ave.

Hayward, CA 94544 TYPICAL DUTIES: Advises, assists, and counsels teachers, school districts, and private educators regarding teacher certification and credentialing in person, by email, or on the phone. Assesses CTE teacher candidates' work experience for recency and overall three year requirement.

Verifies and registers credentials; enters credentials information into and maintains database of credentialing information. Evaluates and processes complex applications to be submitted to the Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Reviews applications for Temporary County Certificates and issues them when requirements have been met. SEE FULL JOB DESCRIPTION FOR MORE INFORMATION

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Associates of Arts Degree (AA) preferred.

Experience: Two (2) years of increasingly responsible clerical or secretarial experience involving frequent public contact. School District or County Office experience preferred. Equivalency: Equivalent combination of education and experience.
