What We Are

We are a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving all those in need in the Sacramento area. We have been a level 3 Patient Centered Medical Home since 2011 and were the first to earn that designation in Sacramento. Integrated, comprehensive and supportive services to maximize health outcomes. About the Position

Specializes in and performs the entire credentialing process for all providers as required by established requirements. Works with providers, administration, and vendors as necessary to ensure accurate and timely provider credentialing, enrollment, licensure and exclusion verifications

Essential Functions:

Obtain, Process and Maintain Provider Credentialing Information

  • Work with providers, administration and Credentialing Verification Organization to ensure timely credentialing of all providers.

  • Enter and maintain all Provider information into designated databases.

  • Enter and maintain Provider applications, updates, and other documentation into the system.

  • Maintain credentialing information by reviewing, entering and following up on missing information.

  • Maintain a list and follow up on providers that need re-credentialing and coordinate re-credentialing process.

  • Maintain a list and follows up on providers that need re-privileging and assists in coordinating and tracking the re-privileging process.

  • Run provider queries into National Practitioners Data Bank for adverse charges pending or filed against provider.

  • Enter data into other designated databases and systems, including but not limited to CAQH, and PECOS.

  • ePCS provider enrollment and administration.

  • Assist with maintaining Privileging information.

  • Assist with clinic licensure and registrations as necessary.

Multi-Disciplinary Communication and Collaboration

  • Attends regular meetings such as Peer Review Committee.

  • Sends out regular communication to multi-disciplinary teams related to the status of providers credentialing.

  • Works with the leadership team on any credentialing concerns that arise.

Compliance of Policy, Procedures and Other Requirements

  • Works within the organizational guidelines to maintain a credible and compliant credentialing process.

  • Works within the guidelines set forth by other governing bodies such as HRSA, CMS and other local, state and federal entities in which we do business with.

Tracking, Reporting and Monitoring of Licenses and Certifications

  • Verify potential and existing Provider's license, DEA and other licenses, registrations or certificates, as necessary.

Insurance Enrollment Functions

  • Perform ongoing research as to providers that need to be enrolled with or removed from health plans as needed.

  • Work with Patient Financial Services Director on providers needing enrollment and contracts with health plans as needed.

  • Complete and submit provider enrollment applications and required paperwork.

  • Keep up to date provider enrollment process and records and track provider participation levels. Track enrollment applications status as needed.

  • Update lists and systems to reflect provider enrollment approvals, denials and/ or terminations as needed.

Education/ Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
  • 2 years relevant Health Care Experience (preferred)
  • CPCS Certification (preferred)
  • All relevant Licenses/certifications must be kept current and in good standing.

VIEW JOBS 3/22/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-06-20T00:00 The Manager provides overall leadership, direction and management of activities and resources of the Medical Staff Services in regard to planning, organizing, staffing, directing, monitoring, controlling and coordinating the work efforts of the department. The Medical Staff Services Department of Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento (SMCS) and Sutter Center for Psychiatry (SCP) provides support to the medical staff organization to meet the goals and objectives of the medical staff and hospital and to meet requirements of regulatory agencies. This includes development and enforcement of Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, policies and procedures; development and implementation of Credentialing procedures for medical staff and advanced practice clinicians; support to medical staff department committee structure, direction, development and planning of the Continuing Medical Education Programs. This position develops, directs and integrates programs and relationships which promote and enhance the visibility of Sutter Medical Center, its services and Medical Staff expertise through continuing medical education programs. Education: * AA degree in Medical Staff Sciences or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) certificate is preferred; may be enrolled comparable college course of study. * Applicant may substitute education for significant related work experience. Experience: * Significant medical staff services professional experience in an accredited acute care hospital setting performing management and supervisorial duties is required. Incumbent must have experience with medical staff organization support, planning and supporting physician CME programs, and with credentialing. * Experience in related outpatient entities, medical groups, HMOs, or insurance companies, particularly in the area of credentialing, is required. Knowledge: * The incumbent must be well versed in the management of the areas supervised. * Knowledge of hospital and medical staff organization and structure, related medical procedures, medical terminology to include diagnostic and operative procedures, medico-legal issues and laws, and pertinent regulatory requirements and standards (Title 22, CMS, TJC, NCQA, and CMA IMQ for CME accreditation requirements) is required. * Knowledge of credentialing requirements of both acute and non-acute entities is required. Special Skills/ Equipment: * Position requires tact, diplomacy, and ability to work with individuals in all levels of the organizations of hospitals, medical staffs, medical groups and similar entities. * Ability to work with highly confidential information is required. * Independent problem solving and decision-making abilities are required. * Must possess computer skills and knowledge required to support a credentialing information system. Physical Requirements: * This position requires sitting for long periods of time. * Must be available for both early morning and evening meetings. * Must have transportation to off-site locations.
