The Credentialing Assistant will assist in supporting the initial application and recredentialing process while responsible for creating the initial application packets / reappointment packets, tracking and mailing the packets.
Responsible for intake of initial applications which includes: Logging them into Cactus, setting up the initial application folder, scanning documents into Cactus, performing data entry into cactus and identifying missing information.
Scan documents into Cactus
Assisting in maintaining the expireable process by requesting, collecting, data entering, scanning and filing documents.
Provide administrative support in Medical Affairs by assisting in meeting coordination, answering telephones, opening and distribution of mail, payroll and filing.
With appropriate training, accepts additional related duties, as needed.
Devotes attention and resources to provide the best customer service possible.
Participates in Joint Commission preparation and NYS DOH Surveys
Adhere to Mercy Medical Center / Department policies and procedures and Joint Commission/regulatory agency requirements.
Demonstrate and promote service excellence at all times.
Participate in education programs, in-service meetings, workshops, conferences, and committees.
Keep abreast of current literature and professional trends
Review and understand the Medical Staff Bylaws of each CHS Facility
Review and understand the Joint Commission Standards
Review and understand the NCQA Standards
Credentialing and medical staff services experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
Must have the ability to prioritize, multi-task and have good listening, written and oral skills. Excellent customer service, oral/written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are necessary.
Advanced knowledge of Word & Excel is necessary. Knowledge of Cactus Credentialing system a plus but not necessary.
Knowledge or experience with credentialing processes desirable.
