General Overview

The Credentialed Trainer (CT) is responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of EPIC end user training at Brigham Health (BH). Working in tandem with Partners Healthcare (PHS) Instructional designers, the CT delivers training curriculum based on the needs and objectives of BH end users and develops documentation to support learning.

Existing experience or knowledge of Epic or an equivalent Electronic Medical Record (EMR) is desirable. Strong project management skills a must. The candidate should be detail oriented and have excellent communication skills at all levels. Those who fill the role are expected to be able to work well both in a team environment and autonomously.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Using Partners Healthcare (PHS) provided content as a base, develop learning solutions using best practices and instructional design principles and deliver classroom instruction to end users

  • Consult and develop relationships with PHS IDs and users on appropriate learning interventions

  • Work closely with Clinical/Revenue Business Analysts and SME's to identify performance gaps and develop course content to meet business and user needs

  • Prepare lesson plans, including methods, materials, and documentation to be presented in class

  • Provide coaching to users when assigned

  • Administer user proficiency assessments and in-system checklists

  • Participate in appropriate PeC and Epic forums and educational opportunities to maintain application knowledge and proficiency.

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Possible local travel to Partners sites

Education: Bachelor's degree in Education or healthcare related field plus three (3) years of related work experience, preferably including training program design and implementation.

Clinical or Healthcare experience/knowledge is strongly desired.

Prior completion of Epic credentialed training program desired. Must obtain Credentialed Trainer status with Partners and demonstrate proficiency facilitating learning in the assigned Epic application before a panel of evaluators.

Skills, Abilities and Competencies

  • Demonstrated ability to learn and utilize new clinical application software and systems

  • Strong organization, planning, presentation and facilitation skills

  • Experience in healthcare environment or using medical IT systems

  • Ability to work on weekends or evenings is occasionally required.

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with cross functional teams including staff at all levels of the organization

  • Ability to successfully negotiate and collaborate with others of different skill sets, backgrounds and levels within and external to the organization

  • Strong problem solving and negotiation skills

  • Ability to effectively conduct meetings, both formal and informal

  • Requires minimal direction from leadership and possesses the ability to learn quickly
