Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) - Transplant Unit

The Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) at the New York Presbyterian Hospital is part of the Liver Transplant interdisciplinary treatment team. The CASAC's primary function is to provide comprehensive counseling to alcohol/substance dependent patients. This is accomplished by performing a complete assessment of each patient, identifying areas of need, developing individualized treatment plans and evaluating effectiveness of treatment. As well, the CASAC helps patients to focus on maintaining total abstinence and make a strong connection to the 12 Step self-help programs. You will act as a liaison with outside alcohol/substance abuse related agencies and between patient, family, community and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.

This is a full time day shift position at NewYork-Presbyterian Columbia University Irving Medical Center.

Preferred Criteria:

• A comprehensive knowledge of chemical dependency

• Bilingual Spanish

Required Criteria:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong organizational, writing and analytical skills

• CASAC (Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor) certification

• Bachelors Degree
