Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Exhibitions and Public Programs, the Creative Scholars Program Specialist plans, develops, and manages the Tyler Creative Scholars program at the Tyler School of Art and Architecture.

The Tyler Creative Scholars program (TCS) is a weekend, pre-college program designed for students from public and charter high schools in the School District of Philadelphia. The program aims to: 1) provide high quality art instruction to underserved Philadelphia students who possess exceptional ability and promise in the arts; 2) create opportunities and open doors for students who might not otherwise have access to such instruction; and 3) provide college experiences for underrepresented students interested in pursuing a college degree in the arts or design.

TCS offers a year-long curriculum that provides in-depth learning experiences that enable students to advance their work and prepare for college-level art study. In addition to artistic preparation, TCS offers college literacy workshops to support students' success in the college admissions process and beyond. Plans for future program development include a high school summer internship program with local arts organizations that will enable students to gain additional knowledge and experience in the arts.
