Salary / Pay Rate: $15.00/hour to $25.75/hour, based on experience

Creative Kids Camp- Teacher (Seasonal)

Camp Format:

• Creative Kids Camp is an arts-based summer day camp at the historic Greenbelt Community Center, a New Deal landmark. Campers ages 6-12 rotate through our Marvelous Mix classes in visual art, music, dance, drama and circus skills, as well as outdoor recess play and indoor quiet time. Campers also participate daily in an elective Afternoon Art Adventure class that meets throughout the two-week camp session. At the end of every two-week session, the camp presents two musical theater performances in the Community Center auditorium, and hosts a reception showcasing the campers' artworks after the second performance.

Job Requirements:

• During the Marvelous Mix, teachers teach up to five 45-minute classes in their specialty each day, tailoring each class to a different age group. Classes meet between 9:00 am and 2:00pm, with a lunch break at noon. Class size is capped at 12 campers. Each class is accompanied by at least one college-age counselor and one high-school intern, who assist the teacher by facilitating camper participation. The final morning of each camp session will be largely consumed by presenting the camp show for parent visitation day.

• Afternoon Art Adventure teachers provide in-depth instruction and activities for a daily class in their specialty, attended by the same camper cohort throughout the two-week session. Class length is one hour and 15 minutes, except for pottery on the wheel (one hour and 45 minutes. Class size may vary according to the subject area and classroom space, but would not exceed 15 campers. Each class is accompanied by a college-age counselor, who assists the teacher by facilitating camper participation. Whenever possible, counselors will be matched with classes that align with their prior training and experience. The final afternoon of each camp session will be devoted to setting up and hosting presentations/showings of work for parent visitation day.

• We welcome job applications and class proposals for Afternoon Art Adventure classes from teachers across a wide spectrum of specialties, including creative movement, theater, fine arts, music, advanced crafts, and art/technology integration.

Compensation:

• Starting pay for teachers is $15.00/hour to $25.75/hour based on experience.

Camp Session Dates:

• Session One: June 17 - June 28 (no camp June 19)
• Session Two: July 1 - July 12 (no camp July 4)
• Session Three: July 15 - July 26
• Session Four: July 29 - August 9

Particularly for Afternoon Art Adventures, we are open to hiring for either a single session or multiple sessions. Teachers can teach solely for the Marvelous Mix, solely for Afternoon Art Adventure, or both.
