Deliver new, compelling design solutions and product innovations for automotive exteriors and interiors.

Responsibilities

  • Creative Designers find it easy to apply their knowledge and educational experience, working as a valued member of a team tasked with designing future mobility solutions.

  • Create fresh, innovative ideas that show conceptual stretch and forward thinking.

  • Be self-driven on project developments and work creatively within technical package/constraints

  • Demonstrate ownership of your projects, and drive for high quality in your deliverables while maintaining timing discipline.

  • Using a variety of media, including the very latest technology, Designers will create high quality sketches, renderings, and 3D CAID (Computer Aided Industrial Design) proposals for senior management reviews.

  • Interface with cross-functional teams in the development of scale and full size clay models ultimately interfacing with program engineering teams in the development of proposals based on their designs.

  • Portfolio submission in addition to a resume is required to be considered for this position. (Design candidates will have portfolios that exhibit work on production and conceptual complete vehicle exterior designs and details.)

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Transportation Design or Product Design
  • 4+ years of experience in the Design industry (Automotive highly preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to think strategically, with an awareness of the global nature of our markets.

  • Candidates must have exceptional design intuition, strong problem solving skills and a superior ability to visually communicate through sketches, and renderings.

  • Ability to think three-dimensionally with a strong emphasis on proportions and a refined sense of graphics and form.

  • CAID training/experience in both 2D and 3D is highly desired. Alias 3D, SketchbookPro, Photoshop, VRED experience preferred

  • Experience using Design Thinking Methodologies.

  • Experience using and/or an awareness of advanced 3D digital tools (Maya, Zbrush, Modo, Gravity Sketch, C4D, After Effects, Premier, etc)

Product Designers will work in small, cross-functional, and co-located teams in Dearborn, MI. The Product Designer will collaborate directly and continuously with Software Engineers, Product Managers and Product Owners to build, validate and release software products early and often. Responsibilities: * Represent the user's perspective throughout the product lifecycle - from problem discovery, solution ideation and validation through iterative development and delivery. * Maintain a user-centered approach in design perspective and practice. * Guide product decisions through user research and iterative feedback loops * Work as a collaborative team member with business partners, product managers, developers and fellow designers. * Facilitate and lead design thinking sessions with various technical and non-technical stakeholders * Help product managers assess and prioritize opportunities and constraints. * Rapidly iterate design prototypes and working applications. * Conduct user testing, interviews, and analysis. * Develop visual identity systems, data visualizations, visual design, illustrations, etc. * Produce materials for business partners and developers, including user flows, wireframes, mockups, live style guides, and assets. Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree is required * 2+ years of experience in Prototyping * 2+ years of experience in User Testing * 2+ years of experience in a UI/UX/ID position Preferred Requirements: * Bachelor's Degree in HCI, Design, Computer Science or equivalent * Experience with conducting discovery and user validation interviews * Experience working independently with product owners. * Experience designing full-service consumer and business applications. * Experience in Agile/Lean methodologies. * Command of modern front-end technologies and frameworks (grid systems, responsive design). * Experience with Web and Mobile Accessibility. * Strong communication and collaboration skills. * Passion for growing your skills, tackling interesting work and challenging problems; be committed to lifelong design learning. * Technical and problem-solving mindset.
