Provides creative arts therapy, psychotherapy and counseling. Provides an environment that fosters and enhances creativity, socialization, and promotes physical and mental health.
1.Develops and conducts individual and group creative arts therapy sessions to include long-term and short-term goals based on observation and referrals.
2.Designs and implements a variety of goal-oriented group sessions which utilize art and other creative modalities (e.g., music, drama, and dance) as effective therapeutic tools.
Master's Degree in Creative Arts Therapy, required.
New York State Education Department licensed Creative Arts Therapist, required;
NYSED Creative Arts Therapist valid permit and must become licensed and registered within one (1) year of hire.
Minimum one (1) year experience practicing creative arts therapy, required.
Department specific certification in one or more of the following, preferred;
Registered Art Therapist (ATR) or Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC) credentialing through Art Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB),
Registered Drama Therapist (RDT) through the National Association for Drama Therapy (NADT),
Registered Dance/Movement Therapist (R-DMT) through the Dance/Movement Therapy Certification Board (DMTCB),
Registered Music Therapist (RMT), Certified Music Therapist (CMT), or Advanced Certified Music Therapist (ACMT) through the National Association for Music Therapy (NAMT).
Music Therapist - Board Certified (MT-BC) through the Certification Board of Music Therapists (CBMT).
