Work Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Crash & Safety Department.

  • Work cross-functionally across chassis, body, electrical, teams to define and implement passive safety behaviors in accordance with FMVSS, ECE and other global safety regulations.

  • Conduct crash performance integration, include target setting and tear down to system level.

  • Conduct crash & safety validation activities, analyzing crash data and documenting results.

  • Conduct troubleshooting actions for issues discovered during validation testing at all levels, from component to full system.

  • Confirm DVP&R (Design Validation Plan & Reports) of safety related systems and components.

  • Assist with certification and compliance to NHTSA (National Highway Transportation Safety Administration).

  • Research the trends of industrial technology development, and lead the proposal of passive safety technology development.

  • Leadership responsibilities also include employee development, process institutionalization, performance management.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Overview: Within Safety Electronics, a student will be an integral part of a skilled engineering team working directly on various assignments that are both technically challenging and educationally stimulating. Examples of assignments include, support vehicle performance software integration and systems that are capable of meeting customer and internal performance requirements as well as software quality requirements. Review and generate requirements for software systems. Evaluate and solve technical issues in product development. Support cost saving activities. Generate reports as required. Interface and communicate with both internal and external customers on technical matters. Maintain appropriate engineering procedures throughout the product development process to achieve engineering deliverables which include cost, reliability and manufacturing objectives. Experience: * Pursuing a degree in electrical or computer engineering. * Previous experience in robotics, SAE, IEEE, or other electrical engineering activities is a plus. * Strong Microsoft suite skills including PowerPoint, Excel and Word. * Strong sense of urgency and personal commitment. * Possesses excellent written and verbal skills.
