This position is responsible for assisting the Director of Athletics Facilities & Grounds with the overall maintenance of Athletic facilities and maintenance equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strip, clean, buff and apply different cleaners and sealers to the multiple surfaces throughout all athletic facilities.

  • Operation and maintenance of power tools included but not limited to pressure washers, blowers, drills, saws and pneumatic tools.

  • Ensure that all maintenance equipment is kept in proper working condition specified by manufacture's guidelines

  • Assist with inventory control of cleaning material.

  • Assist with security/lockdown of multiple athletic facilities when not in use.

  • Paint various surfaces including but not limited to concrete, cinderblock, railings, and metal,

  • Inspects and notifies the maintenance crew leader when there is concern of a major repair at an athletic facility.

  • Works athletic special events as assigned.

  • Nights and weekends work sometime required.

  • Makes recommendations for new equipment purchases as needed.

Required Qualifications:

Education: High school degree or equivalent

Experience: 2 years of of maintenance and/or mechanical background

Skills:Knowledge and experience in tasks associated with general facility maintenance. Experience operating and/or maintaining maintenance equipment. Small engine and equipment mechanical skills desired.

VIEW JOBS 1/13/2022 12:00:00 AM 2022-04-13T00:00 POSITION X2205 Tennessee Extension Internship Program: ANR/CED Organic and Sustainable Crop Production 10-week Summer Internship LOCATION The student will work in the Department of Plant Sciences at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Prior to starting the internship, interns will participate in a day-long orientation to familiarize them with Tennessee Extension Programs in ANR. EFFECTIVE DATE Tentative--May 19 - July 28, 2022 SALARY AND BENEFITS A stipend in the amount of $6,840 for the 10-week internship is provided for each intern. As with any position, it is expected that an intern is able to get to and from work each day. Generally, interns ride with Extension agents during significant work-related travel and therefore do not receive a travel budget allotment. JOB DESCRIPTION * In collaboration with The UT VOL Supported Ag (VSA) Program, an on-campus CSA program within the University of Tennessee Department of Plant Sciences, the intern will gain experience in organic crop production and "learn-by-doing" all aspects of becoming a small mixed vegetable grower by assisting with the daily needs of the campus Organic Farm, a 2 acre operation located on the ETREC Organic Crops Unit. * Responsibilities on the farm will include harvesting and packing vegetables, vegetable crop and field maintenance, organic pest control, produce safety procedures, greenhouse production of transplants, maintaining records for organic and GAP certifications, selling produce through the VSA program, and other tasks as needed. Activities on the farm will be conducted while working in a team with other student interns. * Along with the hands-on farm tasks, the intern will take on an independent project to create outreach materials, such as factsheets, social media posts, and educational videos to help with extending materials from the program to small farmers across Tennessee. * Day-to-day coordination of the Intern's assignments and activities are the responsibility of the TN Extension Vegetable Specialist, Dr. Annette Wszelaki, and the VSA Program Coordinator, Samantha Flowers, who will be the supervisors of the internship. REQUIREMENTS * Candidate must be enrolled in a college of agriculture, natural resources, environmental science or closely related major. * Should have completed at least 50 percent of the required course work for the Bachelor's degree with a cumulative GPA of 2.7 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher and has at least one more semester to complete after the summer internship has ended. Preference will be given to students presently enrolled in the University of Tennessee, Tennessee State University, any other university or college in Tennessee, or to a student resident of Tennessee enrolled elsewhere. Preference will also be given to those with Extension experience (i.e. former 4-H member, etc.). However, all eligible applicants will be considered. * Must reside in, or live within a reasonable commuting distance of the assigned location. Housing not provided. * Must have own transportation to and from work. * Must present a written and oral report of the project accomplishments and training experience at the end of the internship.
