Position Title: CPU System Validation / Virtual Bring-Up Engineer

About the Team:
Join the growing Encore Semi Front-End Development team to collaborate with customers on the verification of CPUs and CPU SOCs based on innovative new core architectures. Joining the team, you will build on a background of CPU core development preparing system level bring-up tests to stress the design during the pre-silicon phase of development and prepare for first silicon. You will join a larger CPU core development team to deliver next generation computing cores.
About the Project:
As a member of the verification team of a complex next-generation core CPU, you will work with pre-silicon verification engineers as well as system architects to develop test content and environments to use to stress the design in the pre-silicon phase and prepare early bring-up tests for use with first silicon. In order to enable these activities, you will also develop and validate initial firmware / boot code to drive processor start-up from power-on through the boot sequence. The environments you build would focus both on test content execution as well as leveraging hooks in the microarchitecture to collect and analyze coverage information from testing to provide feedback and evaluation of the overall validation content. If you have experience in system level debug and silicon bring-up of complex CPUs, joining the Encore Semi Verification team could be a good match for you.
Minimum Qualifications:
7+ years of Functional Verification or Validation experience of complex CPUs
Experience with creating functional test content in C/C++, experience with scripting languages such as Python or Perl, experience running content on both pre-silicon and post-silicon platforms
Firmware development experience to control processor power-on through system boot sequences. Experience should be as close to physical hardware (such as microcode of BIOS level) as possible
Experience debugging both hardware and system software issues using hardware hooks as well as software tracing
Valued Qualifications:
Experience with large CPU designs such as Power or x86
Experience executing validation and creating code for use both at the hardware emulation level during pre-silicon as well as directly on first silicon hardware in a lab setting
Development of automated testing tools for multiple different environments
Strong understanding of how to collect and analyze functional coverage
Education Requirements:
Required: Bachelor's, Electrical Engineering
Preferred: Master's, Electrical Engineering
