In this highly visible role as a part of an industry-recognized and innovative CPU design team, you will contribute to solving intriguing and key problems in the physical design (PD) and optimization space. With a steadfast focus on improving Power, Performance, and Area (PPA) of CPU designs, you'll have the opportunity to interface with most teams in CPU design and influence SOC teams as well.

Key Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate should possess a BS or MS in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of CPU PD, optimization, and/or methodology experience

  • Expertise in high-performance, low-power physical design and implementation techniques with industry standard synthesis and PnR tools

  • Proficiency in using STA and power analysis tools

  • Proficiency in programming and scripting (Perl, TCL) with strong fundamentals

  • Strong understanding of logic design (RTL) and electrical fundamentals

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Description

As the CPU Physical Design Optimization and Methodology Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Work with physical design team, CAD team and external vendors to drive physical design methodology and flow enhancements to improve PPA and turnaround time. Analyze the design, look for opportunities and provide feedback to CAD and external vendors for tool and flow enhancements. Work with physical design team to understand the challenges associated with design closure and provide guidance.

Education & Experience

BSEE/MSEE is required.

The flow provides tile and pin placement optimization, clock and power distribution, high-performance bus implementation, and timing budgeting. We evaluate, procure, and deploy technologies from industry leading EDA vendors inside a FlowTool framework. This role will be a part of a global team all working in concert for project design teams from the US, China. and India. You will work directly with the global CAD organization and project teams to understand the design requirements and deliver innovative solutions using EDA tools, XML, TcL, Python, csh, and perl scripts as appropriate.</p><p>We have a vibrant culture that focusses on collaboration and teamwork.
