SUMMARY The Assistant Manager assists the CPD Manager in the development of goals and objectives for the unit. Assists in managing the day-to-day operations of the department. # ENTRY REQUIREMENTS 1.## #Associate degree preferred or 3+ years of CPD experience or currently certified as a Surgical Technologist. 2.## #A minimum of three years surgical services experience is preferred.# 3.## #Certification in sterile processing obtained within 1 year of hire. 4.## #Familiar with surgical instrumentation, OR procedures # CPD procedures preferred. 5.## #Previous leadership experience preferred. 6.## #Previous educator function preferred.# 7.## #Self-directed professional who is able to function autonomously in a leadership role to assist and support staff in decision-making and problem-solving issues required.# 8.## #Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 9.## #Ability to act as a professional role model. 10.## #Able to assess skill levels of new employees and determine extent and duration of orientation/training required. 11.## #Competent with Microsoft office and other basic computer skills. Reports any unsafe practices observed. 4.## #Uses effective customer service/interpersonal skills at all times. 5.## #Assists the Manager in the development of the vision, goals and objectives for the unit and assumes accountability for the achievement of same. 6.## #Establishes an environment conducive to staff professional growth and development. 7.## #Acts as a resource by supporting and reinforcing the necessary job skills and judgment of the staff. 8.## #Monitors the process of decontamination, assembly, packaging, sterilization, reprocessing and storage of sterile instruments. 9.## #Coordinates the work flow of the p.m. and midnight shift.# 10.## #Works in collaboration with the manager in hiring process and termination as appropriate. 11.## #Assists manager with payroll and timekeeping records for unit employees. 12.## #Facilitates problem resolution.# 13.## #Plans, coordinates, and provides unit based education.# 14.## #Maintains employee education files including annual education requirements and employee orientation competencies. 15.## #Assists manager with annual discussions. 16.## #Accountable for department efficiencies and the appropriate utilization of resources. 17.## #Actively supports and provides leadership in unit Quality Assurance and Education programs. 18.## #Maintains own professional growth, demonstrates awareness of new trends in practice, analyzes those trends for applicability to the unit, shares new information with others, and participates in appropriate educational offerings. 19.## #Assists in providing supervision on weekends and holidays as needed.# 20.## #Subject to potential hazards of ETO sterilization, hot machinery and equipment, pathogens, detergents and cleaning solutions. 21.## #Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. # # # # #
