Cox Communications is searching for a Cox Business Access Transport Technician I. Cox Communications is searching for a CB Access Transport Technician I. This role is responsible for configuring aggregate devices, routers, optical access, and/or DWDM equipment that carries video, data, and/or telephony traffic. Utilizes various applications for implementation, service, test and acceptance (Remedy, NetSmart, SAM, Preside, Granite, Procomm Plus, Secure CRT, Broadsoft, N-Command, ICOMS).

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Under closer supervision, prepares, configures, installs and provisions Ethernet and SONET transport equipment for single and multiple dwelling business locations that will support complex services.

  • Performs access transport equipment maintenance support to include changes, upgrades and migrations, disconnects, decommissions, preparation and configuration in support of fulfillment activities.

  • Provision Adtran for telephony customers

  • Works with contractors/vendors to ensure equipment is installed and operating properly.

  • Creates, updates and closes Remedy tickets and coordinates with change control as needed.

  • Coordinates with provisioning to verify/finalize customer acceptance of service, confirming service is working as expected to initiate billing.

  • Ensures quality of processes, programs and customer satisfaction.

  • Complies with all safety procedures and policies.

  • Performs end-to-end provisioning of customer circuits as designed in an accompanying work package from engineering.

  • Performs all final circuit provisioning and configuration of device and intermediate cross connects.

  • Ensures appropriate iOS upgrade is applied.

  • Works with customer on integration of complex circuits such as BGP, EPLAN, EVPLAN, etc.

  • Assists with initial turn-up of CPE equipment.

  • Tests and verifies services in conjunction with the install team.

  • This position may be required to work shifts and/or provide 24/7 coverage to meet customer demands.

Qualifications:*Minimum

    High School Diploma, GED or related experience

  • 1+ year experience in a related field (e.g. technical support, installation and maintenance).

  • Working knowledge of IP, Ethernet, SONET, DWDM, DOCSIS, Video and telephone technologies.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills to work effectively with team throughout the organization

Preferred

  • AA/AS degree or Technical Certification in related discipline desired (Technical Operations)

  • 1 year experience in provisioning and troubleshooting layer II & III networks

  • Prior commercial installation experience; technical support experience

  • Cisco certification

This role is responsible for engineering telecommunication transmission systems to deliver voice, video, data, and wireless services across regional and national converged networks by evaluating the sales forecasts and proactively designing, planning, and implementing projects focused at delivering services ranging from DS-0 through DWDM and including Native Ethernet and IP Services delivered over fiber optical and coaxial cable lines. Also, this role is responsible for strategic and training initiatives aimed at long term business enhancements and next generation network development and process analysis. *Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions* - Prepares cost estimates to deliver DWDM, SONET, TDM, Ethernet, and IP services across the Cox Network. - Prepares the technical specifications, development, and integration of peripheral systems involving multiple telecommunications technologies supporting voice, video, data and other information. - Provides network planning as it relates to Access Network which includes all access rings including CO and customer premise equipment, digital access cross-connect systems and all collocation and interconnect facilities. - Provides routine technology analysis and troubleshooting on assigned segments of networked telecommunications systems. - Performs analysis and reporting of operational measurement data from traffic sensitive network elements to identify potential, future network-capacity needs. - Provides statistical analysis for capacity planning and trend out usage. - Assists in evaluating and selecting new network equipment and emerging technologies while insuring the selected technology supports Cox business plan and positions the network for future growth in capacity, features, capability, and reliability. - Recommends hardware and software upgrades in order to support customer service orders. - Assists Sales Engineering in preparation of proposals, sales calls and presentations. - Analyzes bandwidth utilization to determine ring upgrades and ring splits. - Analyzes network vulnerabilities and develops plan of actions to minimize risks. - Develops and maintains detailed network designs and documentation including Method of Procedure and Engineering Specifications. - Maintains network asset and circuit inventory databases. - Ensures Central Office records accuracy and relay rack real estate forecasting. - Performs other duties as required.
