Brief Job Description

The Hiring Salary Range is $51,724.71 - $64,255.15

The Court Supervisor supervises and assists support staff to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Municipal Court. Responsible for a broad scope of work requiring a significant degree of independent judgment; complex problem solving skills; and broad professional knowledge and experience in a trial court environment.

This position requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field. Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature which may be obtained with a two year associate's degree, diploma or equivalent from a college, technical, business, vocational, or correspondence school. Position also requires candidate to be bondable.

The ideal candidate for this position will possess a minimum of 5 years experience in a supervisory position that has direct oversight of personnel. The candidate should have the knowledge and experience to demonstrate the skills related to supervising and monitoring performance for a regular group of employees including providing input on hiring/disciplinary actions and work objectives/effectiveness, performance evaluations, and realigning work as needed. Experience is desired in the areas of report running, processing of budget requisitions and reconciling financial transactions on a daily basis. Experience in resolving complex customer service issues with Court customers and knowledge necessary to understand the complex operations of a Municipal Court is a must. Preference is also given to candidates who demonstrate knowledge and experience obtained in a Municipal Court setting such as: AJACS, Minimum Accounting Standards, Arizona Rules of Court, and other applicable standards in trial court operations, and who hold the certification from the Arizona Supreme Court for the Arizona Court Supervisor or Arizona Court Manager training programs.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

Only a limited number of the most highly qualified applicants meeting the City's requirements will be invited for an interview. Examination process for this position will include:

Essential Functions
12 Month Objectives

  • Complete Court orientation videos

  • Schedule and hold One on One meetings with staff within first 30 days

  • Scheduling re-occurring one/one meetings with staff

  • View operations of each Court division/function within first 30 days

  • Complete AJACS training within first month

  • System navigation

  • Retrieval of case information

  • Payment processing

Complete training in Minimum Accounting Standards within 1st month Complete training in Goodyear Court financial policies and procedures Complete training in City of Goodyear and Goodyear Court personnel policies within 1st month Complete training in Outlook calendar management within 1st month Complete training in daily financial reconciliation within first 45 days, including but not limited to:

  • Reports

  • Bonds

  • Restitution

  • Hold receipting

  • Reverse receipting/voids

Complete training in Munis financial system within first 45 days

  • Requisitions/Purchase Orders

  • Check requests

Complete training in Executime payroll system within first 45 days Develop & implement a plan for employee coaching, training and development within the first 60 days, with emphasis on but not limited to:

  • Employee performance

  • Employee goals & professional development

  • CORE VALUES

Develop and present a procedure and training for Case Closure review & Retention within first 3 months Review Court Policy & Procedure manuals and develop and implement a procedure for migration of policies into Power DMS software within first 6 months

  • Roll out Power DMS to staff within first 6 months

Create policy and procedure for Search Warrant process (from filing to retention & destruction) within first 9 months Participate in completion of Minimum Accounting Standards Compliance report with Court Administrator within first year Complete 16 hours of COJET accredited training as required
