Position Highlights

The Washington County Circuit Court in Hillsboro, Oregon, is hiring a Courtroom Clerk (Court Operations Specialist) to support the Honorable Brandon Thompson.

In this role, most of your time will be spent providing courtroom support to the judge by preparing the courtroom and daily dockets, coordinating proceedings, operating and monitoring the digital recording equipment, completing log notes, filling out forms, orders, and judgments, swearing in witnesses and jurors, processing exhibits, verifying that pleadings submitted to the court are accurate and complete, researching the statuses of cases, and entering orders into the record. As the bailiff, you will watch for security concerns. You will also schedule and facilitate remote hearings as needed.

In chambers, you will perform moderate-to-complex data entry, maintain multiple calendars, arrange for the return or disposal of exhibits, draft letters, prepare orders, proofread and distribute correspondence, aid in case and document tracking, manage the assigned caseload, and receive and deliver files, mail, documents, and supplies.

As the main point of contact for the office, you will answer questions from internal and external customers about pending motions, outstanding rulings, and scheduled hearings, and you will prevent ex parte contact with the judge.

Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.
