The Tenth Judicial District, whichincludes eight counties in the Northern Suburbs of the Twin Cities Metro Area, is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Court Operations Associate to join the Washington County Court Administration Civil/Probate team in Stillwater, MN.

The Court Operations Associate position is a fast paced, highly detail-oriented position with a variety of responsibilities such asperforming advanced clerical work, providing customer service, and ensuring compliance with applicable court rules, policies, and standards to achieve an impartial, accessible, fair, and timely system of justice. As a Court Operations Associate, you will work directly with the public, judges, and other court employees by processing all case types. Duties require the application of independent judgement and the interpretation of established laws, policies, procedures, regulations based on training and knowledge gained through experience on the job.

This AFSCME-represented position is classified as a Court Operations Associate and located in the Washington County Courthouse at 14949 62nd St. N. Stillwater, MN 55082, with the possibility of a remote or hybrid work environment. Core business hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm.Initial days off: Saturday, Sunday, and Court Designated Holidays.

Example of Duties

The following are examples of major job duties expected of this position:

  • Perform perform clerical court work relating to probate, conciliation, and civil case processing on the Minnesota Court Information System (MNCIS), Microsoft Office, electronic File and Serve, SharePoint and other related computer systems.

  • Review of legal documents for completeness, adequacy, accuracy, and compliance with statutes and rules. Determines processing required and takes necessary action in accordance with court rules, procedures, and practices.

  • Provide assistance to attorneys, parties, judges, and the public by responding to a variety of questions in-person, over the phone, by mail, and/or electronically

  • Issues receipts for payment of court fees, fines, bail, and restitution; receives, reviews, processes, and/or pays amounts due for witness fees, transcripts, psychological examiners, court appointed attorneys, and interpreters

  • Attends and participates in division/team meetings and trainings; maintains knowledge of court policies, processes, and procedures.

Work is performed primarily in an office-setting, a public counter and/or in a courtroom.

Typical Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • One (1) year of relevant job experience or greater, which may include but is not limited to customer service, administrative work, office, and clerical work

  • Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to learn rules of court, state statutes, case processing, policies, and procedures of the area of court assigned

  • Skill in navigating difficult situations and resolving conflict in a respectful and courteous manner

  • Knowledge of basic math

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service while working under pressure in a high volume, fast-paced environment

  • Skill in the operation of a personal computer, including electronic case management system and related applications and equipment

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others within and outside of the Judicial Branch

  • Ability to effectively support court users who have limited experience with the judicial system

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters and files appropriately and in compliance with all applicable court rules, policies, and statutes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft office Suite, with the ability to learn other job-related software

  • Knowledge of legal and court systems

  • Experience with electronic document applications, workflow queues and web-based video and audio platforms
