The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana is seeking qualified applicants for the temporary, full-time position of Court Law Clerk. The incumbent will work on cases assigned and referred to U.S.

Magistrate Judges in the Eastern District of Louisiana, including but not limited to discovery issues and motions, non-prisoner pro se civil cases, Social Security cases, non-capital habeas corpus and pro se prisoner civil rights cases. The Chief Judge is the appointing authority, but the Chief Magistrate Judge will supervise the Court Law Clerk who will perform duties at the direction of all of the district's magistrate judges as coordinated by the Chief Magistrate Judge. This position does not involve representing clients or providing advice to pro se litigants, and ethical considerations prohibit the lawyer employed in this position from practicing law in any capacity for compensation outside of or in addition to work for the Court.
