SALARY GRADE: Grade 12
Superior Court 28, serving Montgomery and Stanly Counties, seeks a qualified candidate to perform a variety of secretarial and administrative tasks for the Senior Resident Superior Court Judge.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Serve as the initial point of contact for the public and members of the Bar, requiring face-to-face, telephone, email and other written communication.
Complete administrative and general office tasks.
Screen and route mail according to contents of communication including email.
Schedule appointments and meetings and maintain administrative records for the office.
Order, maintain and distribute office supplies.
Copy, file, and retrieve materials and perform periodic follow-up activities.
Compose and prepare materials including correspondence, reports, and legal documents.
Perform required data entry of case events.
May attend court or other court events as back up to Court Manager.
Any special project work as assigned.
This position reports to the Senior Resident Superior Court Judge and the Court Manager. Work hours are 8:00AM - 5:00PM, Monday - Friday. Duties may require travel to locations within the Judicial District on any given workday.Knowledge of: court rules and procedures; court system and procedures to effectively interact with judges, other government organizations and the general public; general office procedures; grammar and punctuation; word processing; commonly used rules, procedures, or methods, to perform assignments.
Skills in: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; and strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to: screen communications and based on content, handle independently or route to proper destination; apply grammar and punctuation rules; type with accuracy and speed; spell accurately; use judgment in organizing and establishing document format; effectively manage time in order to prioritize and complete multiple tasks; give basic information and instructions regarding programs or office based on inquires; operate office equipment such as copier, calculator, computer, and telephones.Graduation from high school and two years of experience as a legal secretary or paralegal; or an associate degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
