About the Position

The County Transportation Planner / Project Manager works with various County Departments, advisory commissions, and unincorporated community organizations to develop a multimodal vision. Classes in this series perform a variety of tasks within the Public Works Department, including the planning, organization, communication and management of capital and maintenance projects to meet customer expectations within agreed upon time and budget constraints; performs other related work as required.

Project Manager is part of a job series; however the department is seeking to hire at the Project Manager II/III levels.

Effective July 1, 2024, the compensation for this position will increase by 2.50%. This is a bargained across the board increase for this job classification.

This recruitment may be used to fill future permanent, substitute, limited term, and temporary positions, both full-time and part-time throughout the County.

The Ideal Candidate

The Ideal candidate has a foundation in Transportation planning and engineering and grasps the breadth of legal, design, & funding for Transportation Planning & Engineering in the State of California.

A combination of education, training, and experience resulting in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of qualifying education and experience includes:

All levels: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, City & Regional Planning, Organizational Leadership or a related field.

In addition:

Projects Manager I: No additional experience.

Projects Manager II: Two (2) years of project management experience in building or infrastructure design and/or construction management, or work equivalent to Projects Manager I.

Projects Manager III: Either A:

Four (4) years of experience in building or infrastructure design and/or construction management that included at least one year of project management, OR B: Two (2) years of experience performing duties equivalent to a Projects Manager II.
